于是他们把圣殿，就是耶路撒冷上帝殿中所掳掠的金器皿拿来，王和大臣、王后、妃嫔就用这器皿饮酒。他们饮酒，赞美金、银、铜、铁、木、石造的神明。当时，忽然有人的指头出现，在灯台对面王宫粉刷的墙上写字。王看见写字的指头，

你们躲避刀剑的要快走，不要站住！要在远方怀念耶和华，心中追想耶路撒冷。我们听见辱骂就蒙羞，满面惭愧，因为外邦人进入耶和华殿的圣所。

“看哪，我要使耶路撒冷成为令四围列国百姓昏醉的杯；耶路撒冷被围困，犹大也一样受困。在那日，我要使耶路撒冷成为万民的一块沉重石头，凡举起它的必受重伤；地上的万国都聚集攻击它。
