Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:“ I will punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.

The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,“ I punished the king of Assyria. In the same way, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land.

Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.

Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ Now I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

Therefore, this is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am about to punish the king of Babylon and his land just as I punished the king of Assyria.

看哪，亞述是黎巴嫩的香柏樹，枝條榮美，蔭密如林，極其高大，樹頂高聳入雲。眾水使它生長，深水使它長高；所栽之地有江河環繞，汊出的水道流至田野的樹木。所以它高大超過田野的樹木；生長時因水源豐沛，枝子繁多，枝條增長。空中所有的飛鳥在枝子上搭窩，野地所有的走獸在枝條下生子，所有的大國也在它的蔭下居住。它樹大枝長，極為榮美，因它的根在眾水之旁。神園中的香柏樹不能遮蔽它；松樹不及它的枝子，楓樹不及它的枝條，神園中的樹都沒有它榮美。我使它枝條繁多，極為榮美；在神的園中，伊甸所有的樹都嫉妒它。」所以主耶和華如此說：「因它高大，樹頂高聳入雲，心高氣傲，我要把它交給列國中強人的手裏，他們必定按它的罪惡懲治它。我已經驅逐它。外國人，就是列國中兇暴的人，已把它砍斷拋棄。它的枝條掉落山間和一切谷中，枝子折斷，落在地上一切河道。地上的萬民都離開它的遮蔭，拋棄了它。空中的飛鳥都棲身在掉落的樹幹上，野地的走獸也都躺臥在它的枝條中。為了要使水邊的樹木枝幹不再長高，樹頂也不再高聳入雲；那些得水滋潤的，不再屹立於其中。因為它們和下到地府的人一起，都被交與死亡，到了地底下。」主耶和華如此說：「它墜落陰間的那日，我為它遮蓋深淵，攔住江河，使眾水停流，以表哀悼。我使黎巴嫩為它悲哀，田野的樹木都因它枯萎。我把它扔到陰間，與下到地府的人一同墜落。那時，列國聽見墜落的響聲就震驚；伊甸一切的樹木，就是黎巴嫩中得水滋潤、最佳最美的樹，在地底下都得了安慰。這些樹也要與它同下陰間，到被刀所殺的人那裏；它們曾作它的膀臂，在列國中曾居住在它的蔭下。

耶和華要伸手攻擊北方，毀滅亞述，使尼尼微荒涼，乾旱如同曠野。羣畜，就是各類的走獸必臥在其中，鵜鶘和豪豬要宿在柱頂；窗戶有鳴叫的聲音，門檻毀壞，他要毀壞香柏木板。這素來歡樂、安然居住的城，心裏說：「惟有我，除我以外再沒有別的」，現在竟然荒涼，成為野獸躺臥之處！凡經過的人都必搖着手嗤笑它。

論尼尼微的默示，伊勒歌斯人那鴻所見異象的書。耶和華是忌邪、報應的神。耶和華施報應，大有憤怒；耶和華向他的敵人報應，向他的仇敵懷怒。耶和華不輕易發怒，大有能力，但耶和華萬不以有罪的為無罪。他的道路在旋風和暴風之中，雲彩為他腳下的塵土。

耶和華的使者出去，在亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。清早有人起來，看哪，都是死屍。亞述王西拿基立就拔營回去，住在尼尼微。一日，他在他的神明尼斯洛廟裏叩拜，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地；他兒子以撒‧哈頓接續他作王。
