This is what the Lord says:“ See how the waters are rising in the north; they will become an overflowing torrent. They will overflow the land and everything in it, the towns and those who live in them. The people will cry out; all who dwell in the land will wail

This is what the Lord says:“ A flood is coming from the north to overflow the land. It will destroy the land and everything in it— cities and people alike. People will scream in terror, and everyone in the land will wail.

耶和華對我說：「必有災禍從北方發出，臨到這地所有的居民。

哀聲遍傳摩押四境，哀號的聲音達到以基蓮，哀號的聲音遠及比珥‧以琳。

地和其中所充滿的，世界和住在其中的，都屬耶和華。

在日落之處，人必敬畏耶和華的名；在日出之地，人必敬畏他的榮耀。他必如湍急的河流沖來，耶和華的靈催逼他自己。

蛇在婦人背後，從口中噴出水來，像河一樣，要將婦人沖走。地卻幫助了婦人，開口吞了從龍口噴出來的水。

打得粉碎了！他們要哀號了！摩押要羞愧轉背了！這樣，摩押必受四圍的人嗤笑驚駭。

從何羅念有哀號聲：「荒涼！大毀滅！」「摩押毀滅了！」它的孩童哀號，使人聽見。人上魯希坡隨走隨哭，因為在何羅念的下坡聽見毀滅的哀聲。

願海和其中所充滿的澎湃，願世界和住在其間的發聲。

以下是耶和華對耶利米先知說的話，論到巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒要來攻擊埃及地。

注意！你們這些富足人哪，要為將要臨到你們身上的災難哭泣、號咷。

「我若是飢餓，不用告訴你，因為世界和其中所充滿的都是我的。

門哪，哀號吧！城啊，呼喊吧！全非利士都熔化了！因為有煙從北方而來，在它的行伍中沒有掉隊的。」

若有人對你們說：「這是獻過祭的物」，那麼為了那告訴你們的人，並為了良心的緣故就不吃。

但他必以漲溢的洪水淹沒其地方，又驅逐仇敵進入黑暗。

不要容快跑的逃避，也不要容勇士逃脫；在北方幼發拉底河邊，他們絆跌仆倒。這是誰，像尼羅河漲溢，如江河的水翻騰呢？埃及像尼羅河漲溢，如江河的水翻騰。它說：「我要漲溢遮蓋全地；我要毀滅城鎮和其中的居民。
