不要懼怕巴比倫王，不要怕他，因為我必與你們同在，拯救你們脫離他的權勢。這是耶和華說的。

耶和華說：「安慰你們的是我，是我。你為什麼要害怕難逃一死、生命如草芥的世人呢？難道你忘記了創造你、鋪展穹蒼、奠立大地根基的耶和華嗎？難道因為試圖毀滅你的欺壓者大發怒氣，你就整天驚恐不安嗎？他們的怒氣如今在哪裡呢？

「你們懼怕誰，以致對我說謊，不把我放在心上，忘記我？你們不再敬畏我，是因為我長期沉默嗎？

你們說，『不，我們要騎馬奔逃。』所以你們必奔逃。你們又說，『我們要騎快馬逃跑。』所以追趕你們的人必疾馳如飛。他們一人叱喝，必嚇得你們千人逃跑；他們五人叱喝，你們必全部逃跑，以致餘剩的人少得像山頂上的旗杆、高崗上的旗幟。」

七月，王室後裔以利沙瑪的孫子、尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶著十個人在米斯巴刺殺了基大利以及跟他一起的猶大人和迦勒底人。
