The officials then said to the king,“ This man ought to die, because he is weakening the morale of the warriors who remain in this city and of all the people by speaking to them in this way. This man is not pursuing the welfare of this people, but their harm.”

Then the officials said to the king,“ This man should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are left in this city, as well as all the people, by the things he is saying to them. This man is not seeking the good of these people but their ruin.”

Then these officials said to the king,“ This man should be put to death. What he says is making the soldiers who are left in this city lose hope. It’s making all the people lose hope too. He isn’t interested in what is best for the people. In fact, he’s trying to destroy them.”

Then the officials said to the king,“ Let this man be put to death, for he is weakening the hands of the soldiers who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man is not seeking the welfare of this people, but their harm.”

So these officials went to the king and said,“ Sir, this man must die! That kind of talk will undermine the morale of the few fighting men we have left, as well as that of all the people. This man is a traitor!”

Then the officials said to the king,“ Please have this man put to death, since he is discouraging the men of war who are left in this city and all the people, by speaking words like these to them; for this man is not seeking the well being of this people, but rather their harm.”

Therefore the princes said to the king,“ Please, let this man be put to death, for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the welfare of this people, but their harm.”

Then the princes said unto the king, Let this man, we pray thee, be put to death; forasmuch as he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

The officials then said to the king,“ This man ought to die, because he is weakening the morale of the warriors who remain in this city and of all the people by speaking to them in this way. This man is not seeking the well-being of this people, but disaster.”

Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

So these officials said to the king,“ This man must be put to death. For he is demoralizing the soldiers who are left in the city as well as all the other people there by these things he is saying. This man is not seeking to help these people but is trying to harm them.”

Then the princes said to the king,“ Please let this man be put to death; because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but harm.”

Then the priests and prophets said to the officials and all the people,“ This man deserves the death sentence because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

For they were all trying to intimidate us, saying,“ They will drop their hands from the work, and it will never be finished.” But now, my God, strengthen my hands.

Bringing them before the chief magistrates, they said,“ These men are seriously disturbing our city. They are Jews

Ahab said to Elijah,“ So, my enemy, you’ve found me, have you?” He replied,“ I have found you because you devoted yourself to do what is evil in the LORD’s sight.

When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him,“ Is that you, the one ruining Israel?”He replied,“ I have not ruined Israel, but you and your father’s family have, because you have abandoned the LORD’s commands and followed the Baals.

The king of Egypt said to them,“ Moses and Aaron, why are you causing the people to neglect their work? Get to your labor!”

Pursue the well-being of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for when it thrives, you will thrive.”

Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you right here in the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words,

But we want to hear what your views are, since we know that people everywhere are speaking against this sect.”

They began to accuse him, saying,“ We found this man misleading our nation, opposing payment of taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is the Messiah, a king.”

King Jehoiakim, all his warriors, and all the officials heard his words, and the king tried to put him to death. When Uriah heard, he fled in fear and went to Egypt.But King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor and certain other men with him went to Egypt.They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who executed him with the sword and threw his corpse into the burial place of the common people.

Let it be known to the king that the Jews who came from you have returned to us at Jerusalem. They are rebuilding that rebellious and evil city, finishing its walls, and repairing its foundations.

“ Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey, shedding blood, and destroying lives in order to make profit dishonestly.

But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and were saying,“ What are we going to do since this man is doing many signs?If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”One of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them,“ You know nothing at all!You’re not considering that it is to your advantage that one man should die for the people rather than the whole nation perish.”

When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, shouting,“ These men who have turned the world upside down have come here too,

Woe to the city that is rebellious and defiled, the oppressive city!She has not obeyed; she has not accepted discipline. She has not trusted in the LORD; she has not drawn near to her God.The princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are wolves of the night, which leave nothing for the morning.

For we have found this man to be a plague, an agitator among all the Jews throughout the Roman world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

he went down to the scribe’s chamber in the king’s palace. All the officials were sitting there— Elishama the scribe, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials.Micaiah reported to them all the words he had heard when Baruch read from the scroll in the hearing of the people.Then all the officials sent word to Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying,“ Bring the scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll and went to them.They said to him,“ Sit down and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.When they had heard all the words, they turned to each other in fear and said to Baruch,“ We must surely tell the king all these things.”
