巴比伦王在利比拉当着西底迦的面杀了他的众子和犹大所有的贵族，

但如果你不出去向巴比伦王的将领投降，这城必落在迦勒底人手里，被付之一炬，你也逃不掉。’”

巴比伦王在西底迦面前杀了他的众子，又剜去他的双眼，把他用铜链锁着押往巴比伦。

没有被杀戮的人都被掳往巴比伦，做他和他子孙的奴隶，直到波斯帝国的时代。这就应验了耶和华借耶利米之口所说的话：这片土地享受了安息，它在荒凉中守安息，直到满了七十年。

我照耶和华的吩咐对犹大王西底迦说：“你们要负巴比伦王的轭，臣服于他和他的人民，这样你们就可存活。你和你的人民何必死于战争、饥荒和瘟疫呢？耶和华要降这些灾难给不肯臣服于巴比伦王的国家。

这异象如同我从前在祂毁灭耶路撒冷时看见的异象，也像我在迦巴鲁河边看见的异象，我便俯伏在地。

如果先知受迷惑说预言，那是我耶和华任他胡作非为，我必伸手惩治他，把他从我的以色列百姓中除灭。

迦勒底的军队追赶西底迦，在耶利哥平原追上了他。他的军队都四散而逃。迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到哈马的利比拉去见巴比伦王。巴比伦王在那里审判他，当着他的面杀了他的众子和犹大所有的首领，又剜去他的双眼，用铜链锁着他押往巴比伦，将他终生囚在牢里。巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒执政第十九年五月十日，他的臣仆——护卫长尼布撒拉旦进入耶路撒冷，放火焚烧耶和华的殿、王宫及城内所有的房屋。他烧毁了所有重要建筑。
