And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ You have burned this scroll, saying,‘ Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will make mankind and animals disappear from it?’ ”

论到犹大王约雅敬你要说：‘耶和华这样说：你烧了那书卷，说：你为什么在上面写着说：巴比伦王一定来，毁灭这地，使地上的人畜都灭绝呢？

論到猶大王約雅敬你要說：‘耶和華這樣說：你燒了那書卷，說：你為甚麼在上面寫著說：巴比倫王一定來，毀滅這地，使地上的人畜都滅絕呢？

論到猶大王約雅敬你要說：「永恆主這麼說：你，你燒了這書卷，說：『你為甚麼在那上頭寫着說：巴比倫王一定會來，毁滅這地，使此地的人和牲口都從這上頭滅絕掉呢？』

且論猶大王約雅敬曰、耶和華云、爾焚其卷曰、汝奚錄於上云、巴比倫王必至、毀滅斯土、使其人畜俱泯、

奏猶大王約雅金曰、耶和華云、卷中有言巴比倫王必至、翦滅斯國、人民野獸、不得安居、爾不悅斯言、火焚其卷、

亦當告猶大王約雅敬曰、主如是云、爾問曰、何錄於卷云、巴比倫王必至毀滅斯國、翦絕人民牲畜、爾竟焚燬斯卷、

Also tell Jehoiakim king of Judah,‘ This is what the Lord says: You burned that scroll and said,“ Why did you write on it that the king of Babylon would certainly come and destroy this land and wipe from it both man and beast?”

Also tell King Jehoiakim,‘ The Lord says,“ You burned that scroll. You said to Baruch,‘ Why did you write that the king of Babylon would certainly come? Why did you write that he would destroy this land? And why did you write that he would remove from it people and animals alike?’ ”

And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say,‘ Thus says the Lord, You have burned this scroll, saying,“ Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cut off from it man and beast?”

Then say to the king,‘ This is what the Lord says: You burned the scroll because it said the king of Babylon would destroy this land and empty it of people and animals.

You are to proclaim concerning King Jehoiakim of Judah,‘ This is what the LORD says: You have burned the scroll, asking,“ Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land and cause it to be without people or animals?”

And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ You have burned this scroll, saying,‘ Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and cause man and beast to cease from here?’”

And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah thou shalt say, Thus saith Jehovah: Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

Tell King Jehoiakim of Judah,‘ The LORD says,“ You burned the scroll. You asked Jeremiah,‘ How dare you write in this scroll that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land and wipe out all the people and animals on it?’”

Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say,‘ Yahweh says:“ You have burned this scroll, saying,“ Why have you written therein, saying,‘ The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal?’”’

Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ This house will be like Shiloh and this city will be in ruins, without inhabitant’?” And all the people gathered to Jeremiah at the house of the Lord.

Who say to the seers,“ You must not see visions”; And to the prophets,“ You must not prophesy the truth to us. Speak to us pleasant words, Prophesy illusions.

And it shall be when he hears the words of this curse, that he will consider himself fortunate in his heart, saying,‘ I will do well though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart in order to destroy the watered land along with the dry.’

because Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him, saying,“ Why do you prophesy, saying,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am going to hand this city over to the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

Who cause a person to be indicted by a word, And set a trap for the arbitrator at the gate, And defraud the one in the right with meaningless arguments.

Distress and anguish terrify him, They overpower him like a king ready for the attack,

“ Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker— A piece of pottery among the other earthenware pottery pieces! Will the clay say to the potter,‘ What are you doing?’ Or the thing you are making say,‘ He has no hands’?

Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials I will also hand over to their enemies and to those who seek their lives, and to the army of the king of Babylon which has withdrawn from you.Behold, I am going to give a command,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will bring them back to this city, and they will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.’ ”

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?

For I have set My face against this city for harm and not for good,” declares the Lord.“ It will be handed over to the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.” ’

‘ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:“ Behold, I am going to turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you are making war against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the wall; and I will gather them into the middle of this city.And I Myself will make war against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm, and in anger, wrath, and great indignation.I will also strike the inhabitants of this city, both the people and the animals; they will die of a great plague.Then afterward,” declares the Lord,“ I will hand Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, that is, those who survive in this city from the plague, the sword, and the famine, over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to their enemies, and to those who seek their lives; and he will strike and kill them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.” ’

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this Man’s blood upon us.”

The prophets who were before me and before you from ancient times also prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms regarding war, disaster, and plague.

Will you really nullify My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

Therefore this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am going to hand this city over to the Chaldeans and to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.And the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will enter and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses where people have offered incense to Baal on their roofs and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger.For the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have been doing only evil in My sight since their youth; for the sons of Israel have been only provoking Me to anger by the work of their hands,” declares the Lord.

but if the source is God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God.”
