‘ Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.

The command that Jonadab the son of Rechab gave to his sons, to drink no wine, has been kept, and they drink none to this day, for they have obeyed their father’s command. I have spoken to you persistently, but you have not listened to me.

The Recabites do not drink wine to this day because their ancestor Jehonadab told them not to. But I have spoken to you again and again, and you refuse to obey me.

智慧在街上呼喊，在广场上扬声；在闹市中心呼叫，在城门口发出言语，说：“你们愚蒙人喜爱愚蒙，好讥笑的人喜欢讥笑，愚昧人恨恶知识，要到几时呢？你们要因我的责备回转，我就把我的心意（“心意”或译：“灵”）向你们倾吐，把我的话指示你们。我呼唤，你们不肯听从；我伸手，没有人理会。你们既轻忽我的一切劝告，不肯接受我的责备；所以你们遭难的时候，我就发笑；惊恐临到你们的日子，我就嗤笑。惊恐临到你们好像风暴，灾难如同飓风来临，患难困苦临到你们身上。那时，他们必呼求我，我却不回答；他们切切寻找我，却寻不见；因为他们恨恶知识，不选择敬畏耶和华；不接受我的劝告，轻视我的一切责备；所以，他们必自食其果，必饱尝自己所设计谋的伤害。愚蒙人的背道必杀害他们自己，愚昧人的安逸必毁灭他们自己；唯有听从我的，必安然居住，得享安宁，免受灾祸的惊恐。”

他们却没有听从，也不留心，反倒按着他们的计谋，随从自己顽梗的恶心行事，向后不向前。自从你们列祖出埃及地的那日直到今日，我差遣我的仆人众先知到你们那里去，而且是每日不断差遣。你们（“你们”原文作“他们”）却没有听从，毫不留心，反倒硬着颈项行恶，比你们（“你们”原文作“他们”）的列祖还厉害。

为什么我来的时候，没有人在呢？为什么我呼唤的时候，没有人答应呢？难道我的手太软弱不能救赎吗？或是我没有能力拯救吗？看哪！我以斥责使海干涸，我使江河变成旷野，江河的鱼因无水发臭，因干渴而死。

“从犹大王亚们的儿子约西亚第十三年直到今日，这二十三年来，常有耶和华的话临到我，我也不断对你们传讲，你们却不听从。耶和华虽然不断差遣他的仆人众先知到你们那里去；但你们却没有听从，毫不留心。

因为自从我领你们的列祖出埃及地那一天，我已郑重警告他们，直到今日，我仍不断警告他们，说：“你们要听从我的话。”

耶和华他们列祖的神，因为爱惜自己的子民和居所，就常常差派使者警戒他们。他们却戏弄神的使者，藐视他的话，讥诮他的先知，以致耶和华的忿怒临到他的子民身上，直到无法挽救。

“可是他们竟悖逆，背叛你，把你的律法丢在背后，杀害那些控告他们，要他们归向你的先知，犯了亵渎的大罪。

因为他们不听从我的话（这是耶和华的宣告），就是我不断差遣到他们那里去，我的仆人众先知所说的话；同样，你们也没有听从。’这是耶和华的宣告。

你多年容忍他们，你的灵藉着你的众先知劝戒他们，他们还是不侧耳而听，所以你把他们交在各地的民族手中。

他们以背向我，不以脸向我；我不断教导他们，他们却不肯听从，不接受管教；
