‘ Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.

“ Jehonadab, the son of Rekab, ordered his children not to drink wine. And they have kept his command. To this day they do not drink wine. They obey the command Jehonadab gave their people long ago. But I have spoken to you again and again. In spite of that, you have not obeyed me.

The command that Jonadab the son of Rechab gave to his sons, to drink no wine, has been kept, and they drink none to this day, for they have obeyed their father’s command. I have spoken to you persistently, but you have not listened to me.

The Recabites do not drink wine to this day because their ancestor Jehonadab told them not to. But I have spoken to you again and again, and you refuse to obey me.

智慧在大街上高喊，在广场上扬声，在热闹的市集宣告，在城门口演说：“你们愚昧人喜爱愚昧，嘲讽者以嘲弄为乐，无知者厌恶知识，要到什么时候呢？你们若因我的责备而回转，我就向你们显明我的旨意，叫你们明白我的话语。我呼唤你们，你们却充耳不闻；我向你们招手，你们却视若无睹。你们漠视我的劝诫，不接受我的责备。因此，你们遭遇灾难时，我必发笑；惊恐临到你们时，我必嗤笑——那时，恐惧如风暴袭击你们，灾难如旋风临到你们，忧愁和苦难吞没你们。你们呼求我，我也不回答；你们恳切地寻找我，却找不到。因为你们厌恶知识，不愿意敬畏耶和华，不接受我的劝诫，又藐视我的责备。所以，你们必自食其果，因自己的恶谋而吃尽苦头。愚昧人背离正道，自招灭亡；愚顽人逍遥自在，毁掉自己。然而，那听从我的必安然居住，得享安宁，不怕灾祸。”

他们却掩耳不听，一意孤行，任意行恶，越来越坏。从你们的祖先离开埃及那天起，一直到今天，我日复一日地差遣我的仆人——众先知到你们那里，但你们掩耳不听，顽固不化，比你们的祖先更邪恶。

为什么我来的时候一个人也不在？为什么我呼唤的时候没有人回答？是我的臂膀太短不能救赎你们吗？是我没有能力拯救你们吗？看啊，我斥责一声，海就干了；我使江河变为旷野，鱼类因无水而干死，发出腥臭。

“从犹大王亚们的儿子约西亚执政第十三年，到今天已有二十三年。在这期间，我不断把耶和华对我说的话传给你们，你们却充耳不闻。耶和华屡次差遣祂的仆人——众先知警告你们，你们却充耳不闻，毫不理会。

因为自从我把你们祖先从埃及领出来的那天起，一直到今天，我一再劝诫他们要听从我的话。

他们祖先的上帝耶和华因为怜爱祂的子民和祂的居所，就不断派使者来劝告他们。他们却嘲弄耶和华上帝的使者，藐视祂的话，嘲笑祂的先知，以致祂的愤怒临到祂的子民身上，无可挽救。

“然而，他们不顺从你，背叛你，把你的律法抛在背后，又杀掉劝诫他们归向你的众先知，大大亵渎了你。

这都是因为他们不听我的话。这是耶和华说的。我曾屡次差遣我的仆人——众先知去警告他们，他们却不肯听。’这是耶和华说的。

你多年来容忍他们，差遣你的灵借着你的众先知警告他们，但他们依然不肯听从，于是你把他们交在列邦手中。

他们不是面向我而是背对我，我不厌其烦地教导他们，他们却不肯听，不受教。
