While Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army and all the kingdoms and peoples in the empire he ruled were fighting against Jerusalem and all its surrounding towns, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and all his armies were fighting against Jerusalem. They were also fighting against all the towns around it. All the kingdoms and nations Nebuchadnezzar ruled over were helping him. At that time a message from the Lord came to Jeremiah. The Lord said,

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army and all the kingdoms of the earth under his dominion and all the peoples were fighting against Jerusalem and all of its cities:

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came with all the armies from the kingdoms he ruled, and he fought against Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. At that time this message came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,

The LORD spoke to Jeremiah while King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was attacking Jerusalem and the towns around it with a large army. This army consisted of troops from his own army and from the kingdoms and peoples of the lands under his dominion.

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:

因為，你看吧，永恆主發神諭說：我必召北方列國的眾族；他們必來，各安座位在耶路撒冷的城門口，周圍攻擊所有的城牆，攻擊猶大所有的城。

王啊，列王之王啊，——天上的上帝已將國度、權柄、能力、尊榮、賜給了你；也將住任何處的世人、以及山野的走獸、和空中的飛鳥、都交在你手中，使你掌權管理他們——王啊，你，你就是這金的頭。

那時候巴比倫王的軍隊圍困着耶路撒冷，神言人耶利米被關在護衛監的院子，就是在猶大王宮的。

他作王的第九年、十月十日、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來了，他和他的全軍來攻耶路撒冷，紮營攻城，四圍築壘來攻打。於是那城被圍困、直到西底家王十一年。四月九日、城裏大鬧饑荒，甚至當地的人民都沒有糧食。城被攻破，王和所有的戰士就在夜間從靠近王家園子兩城牆中間的門那路向出城逃跑；那時迦勒底人正在四圍攻城；他們就按亞拉巴路向走。迦勒底人的軍隊追趕了王，在耶利哥原野追上了他；他的全軍都離開他潰散了。迦勒底人將王捉住，把他帶上去到利比拉巴比倫王那裏，就宣佈判語來定他的罪。又在西底家眼前將他兒子們都宰殺掉，並將西底家一對眼睛都弄瞎了，然後用銅鍊鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去。五月七日、當巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒王十九年、巴比倫王的臣僕、護衛長尼布撒拉旦、來到耶路撒冷。他把永恆主的殿和王的宮室都燒掉，又燒了耶路撒冷的一切房屋，連所有大幢的房屋都放火燒。

尼布甲尼撒王寄詔書給住全地的各族之民、列國之民、和各種方言的人，說：『願你們多享平安興隆！

『是我用大能力和伸出的膀臂造了大地和地面上的人及牲口；我看誰適當，就把地給誰。現在呢、是我將這些都交給我僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手；田野間的走獸呢、我也給他、供他使用。列國都必服事他和他的兒子、孫子，直到他本國之地——甚至是他本人——遭報的時期來到；那時許多國許多大王都必使他做奴僕。

猶大王西底家九年十月、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領了他的全軍來到耶路撒冷，圍攻它。西底家十一年四月九日、城被攻破。耶路撒冷被攻取的時候，巴比倫王的眾貴族：尼甲沙利薛、三甲尼波撒西金、要人首領、尼甲沙利薛、貴族首領、和巴比倫王其餘的一切貴族、都來，坐在中門。

那時巴比倫王的軍隊正在攻擊耶路撒冷，也攻擊猶大其餘的城市、拉吉和亞西加；因為猶大有堡壘的城只剩下了這兩座。

他行了永恆主他的上帝所看為壞的事；不在神言人耶利米面前自己謙卑，雖然耶利米是奉永恆主的命令來說話的。並且呢，尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着上帝來起誓，他也背叛了那王；硬着脖子，心裏頑固，不歸向永恆主以色列的上帝。不但如此，眾祭司領袖和人民也大大地不忠實，像外國人所行一切可憎惡的事那樣；他們污瀆了永恆主的殿、就是永恆主在耶路撒冷所分別為聖的。永恆主他們列祖的上帝因為顧惜他自己的人民和居所，便又及時又屢次地警告、由他的使者經手傳出話來警告他們。他們卻直戲笑上帝的使者，藐視上帝的話，直譏誚他的神言人，以致永恆主向他人民發烈怒、到無法救治。因此永恆主使迦勒底人的王上來攻擊他們，就在他們聖所的殿裏用刀殺了他們的壯丁，不顧惜壯丁或處女、老邁的或衰弱的；永恆主把這一切人都交在迦勒底王手裏。

王啊，這直長起來，而長得很堅強的就是你。你的強大直增強着，強到頂天，你的權柄管到地極。

由於上帝所賜給他的大權、各族之民、列國之民、各種方言的人就都在他面前戰兢恐懼：他喜歡殺誰、就殺誰，喜歡讓誰活着、就讓誰活着，他喜歡讓誰升高、就讓誰升高，喜歡叫誰降低、就叫誰降低。
