Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

Then I will give you shepherds who are dear to my heart. Their knowledge and understanding will help them lead you.

And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be hidden anymore, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers;and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it; when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe.But solid food is for fullgrown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things that were freely given to us of God.Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Spirit teacheth; combining spiritual things with spiritual words.

as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;
