萬有之主以色列之天主如是云、爾曾恃己名、寄書達於耶路撒冷居民、與祭司瑪西雅子西番亞、及眾祭司曰、

“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,‘ You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem. You also sent them to Zephaniah the priest. He is the son of Maaseiah. And you sent them to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

“ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: You wrote a letter on your own authority to Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, the priest, and you sent copies to the other priests and people in Jerusalem. You wrote to Zephaniah,

“ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: You in your own name have sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to the priest Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thine own name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

“ This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: You in your own name have sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying:

Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that[ are] at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

that the LORD God of Israel who rules over all has a message for him. Tell him,‘ On your own initiative you sent a letter to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah and to all the other priests and to all the people in Jerusalem. In your letter you said to Zephaniah,

“ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

西底家王打發了示利米雅的兒子猶甲、和祭司瑪西雅的兒子西番雅去見神言人耶利米，說：『請為我們禱告永恆主我們的上帝。』

祭司西番雅把這信念給神言人耶利米聽。

護衛長拿住祭司長西萊雅、副祭司西番亞、和三個把守門檻的；

亞述聽到古實王特哈加的事說：『看哪，他出來是要跟你交戰的』，於是亞述王又打發使者來見希西家，並吩咐使者說：

不但如此，他們也常在我面前說到多比雅許多好話；我的話他們也傳出去到他那裏。多比雅又常寄信來、要使我懼怕。

西底家王打發了瑪基雅的兒子巴施戶珥和祭司瑪西雅的兒子西番雅去見耶利米，說：『請為我們求問永恆主，因為巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來攻擊我們；或者永恆主照他一切奇妙的作為來待我們，使巴比倫王撤圍離開我們而上去、也不一定。』那時有話語出於永恆主，而傳與耶利米。

當那些日子、猶大顯貴的人寄了許多的信到多比雅那裏；多比雅也常寄信到他們那裏。

西拿基立還寫了文書來辱罵永恆主以色列的上帝，譏誚他，說：『各地列國的神怎樣未曾援救他們的人民脫離我的手，希西家的神也怎樣不能援救他的人民脫離我的手呀。』

亞哈有七十個兒子在撒瑪利亞。耶戶寫信、送到撒瑪利亞、給城裏的首領、給長老們和養育亞哈眾子的人，說：『現在你們主上的兒子們既都在你們那裏，你們那裏並且有車、馬、堡壘、軍械，那麼這信一到你們那裏，你們就要在你們主上的兒子中間看定了一個最好最適當的，使他坐他父親的王位；你們要為你們主上的家爭戰。』首領們卻懼怕得不得了，說：『看哪，兩個王在他面前尚且站立不住，我們怎能站得住呢？』管家的和市長跟長老們和養育王子的、就打發人去見耶戶，說：『我們是你的僕人；凡你所吩咐我們的、我們都要遵行。我們不立甚麼人做王；你看怎麼好、就怎麼行好啦。』耶戶又給他們寫了第二封信，說：『你們若擁護我，聽從我的話，那麼明天大約這時候、你們要將你們主上的兒子那些人的頭取下來，帶到耶斯列來見我。』那時王的兒子七十人都住在城裏的大人們、將王子養大的、那些人家裏。信一到了他們那裏，他們就把王的兒子七十個人宰殺了，將他們的頭裝在簍子裏，送到耶斯列耶戶那裏。

護衛長拿住了祭司長西萊雅、副祭司西番亞、和三個把守門檻的；又從城裏拿住了一個管理戰士的官、和在城裏所遇見常見王面的五個人、跟檢閱國中之民軍長的書記官、以及城裏遇見的國中之民六十人。護衛長尼布撒拉旦將這些人帶到利比拉巴比倫王那裏。巴比倫王擊殺了他們，殺死在哈馬地的利比拉。這樣、猶大人就流亡、離開他們的本地。

當亞達薛西執政的日子、比施蘭、米特利達、他別、和他們其餘的同僚、寫了奏章奏告波斯王亞達薛西；奏章寫的是亞蘭語、用亞蘭語解釋的。省長利宏、祕書伸帥寫了一通呈文給亞達薛西王控告耶路撒冷人；寫的如下：那時省長利宏、祕書伸帥、和他們其餘的同僚、司法官、將軍、河外巡撫、亞基衛人、巴比倫人、書珊人、就是以攔人、和偉大尊貴的亞斯那巴所遷徙而安置在撒瑪利亞城和大河以西那邊其餘地區的人：如今請看：這就是他們所寄上的呈文本子——『你的臣僕、大河以西那邊的人上奏亞達薛西王。如今請王知道：從王那裏上到我們這裏來的猶大人已經到了耶路撒冷，一個又反叛又極惡的城：他們正在建造起來，正要把城牆築完，把牆根挖好。如今請王知道：這城如果建造起來，城牆如果築完了，他們就不將貢品賦稅服役獻給王了，終久王就受了虧損。如今呢、我們喫的鹽既是朝廷的鹽，自不該見王白受剝奪，故此我們送上呈文來稟知王，請王考查王列祖的記錄，在記錄上王就會查出，知道這城是個反叛的城，對列王和各省都有損害；自古以來其中常行悖逆的事，故此這城遭受了荒廢。我們奏王知道：這城如果建造起來，城牆如果築完了，大河以西那邊之地王就無分了。』

於是她用亞哈的名義寫文書，將王的印章印上，把文書送給拿伯城裏的長老和顯貴人、那些和拿伯同住一城的人。文書上寫着說：『你們要宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在民間的首位上，又叫兩個無賴子一類的人坐在拿伯對面，作見證告他說：「你曾經謗讟上帝和王」；隨即把他拉出去、拿石頭打他、打到他死去。』拿伯城裏的人、那些在他城裏居住的長老和顯貴的人、就照耶洗別所送給他們的文書去行。他們照送給他們的文書裏所寫的宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在民間的首位上。有兩個無賴子一類的人來，坐在拿伯對面；無賴子當着眾民面前作見證告拿伯說：『拿伯曾經謗讟上帝和王』；眾人就把他拉出城外，拿石頭打他打到死。

向他求文書給大馬色各會堂，好使他、若找着了甚麼人信奉這道路，無論男女、都可以捆住，帶到耶路撒冷。

希西家從使者手裏把文書接過來；唸完了，就上永恆主的殿；希西家將文書展開在永恆主面前。

參巴拉第五次這樣打發僮僕來見我，手裏拿着露封的信。
