This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

「以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說，你曾以自己的名義寫信給住在耶路撒冷的眾民、瑪西雅的兒子西番雅祭司及其他祭司。你在信中對西番雅說，『耶和華已立你為祭司代替耶何耶大，管理耶和華的殿，負責拘捕妄自發預言的狂人，給他們戴上鐵鏈枷鎖。現在，亞拿突人耶利米在你們當中自稱為先知，你為什麼不斥責他呢？他甚至寄信給我們這些在巴比倫的人，說被擄的日子還很長久，要我們建房子住下來，耕種田園，吃田中的出產。』」西番雅祭司就把示瑪雅的信讀給耶利米先知聽。

他們帶去的書信這樣說：「安提阿、敘利亞和基利迦的外族弟兄姊妹，你們的弟兄——眾使徒和長老向你們問安！

弟兄姊妹，我簡短地寫信給你們，希望你們聽我勸勉的話。

「你要寫信告訴以弗所教會的天使，那位右手拿著七顆星、往來於七個金燈臺中间的主說，『我知道你的行為、勞碌和堅忍，也知道你嫉惡如仇，曾查驗出那些假冒的使徒，揭穿他們的虛假。你曾堅定不移地為我的名受苦，沒有氣餒。

希西迦派人通告以色列和猶大全境，又寫信通知以法蓮人和瑪拿西人，叫他們到耶路撒冷耶和華的殿，向以色列的上帝耶和華守逾越節。王、眾官員及耶路撒冷的全體會眾決定在二月守逾越節。他們不能在一月守節期，因為潔淨自己的祭司不夠多，民眾也沒有聚集在耶路撒冷。王與全體會眾都很贊成這個計劃。於是，他們下令通告全以色列，從別示巴直到但，讓人們到耶路撒冷向以色列的上帝耶和華守逾越節，因為人們不常照律例守這節期。信差遵照王的命令帶著王和眾官員的信走遍以色列和猶大，宣告說：「以色列人啊，你們應當歸向亞伯拉罕、以撒和以色列的上帝耶和華，好使祂轉向你們這些從亞述王手中逃脫的餘民。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷把猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅、猶大的官員、技工和工匠擄到巴比倫以後，耶和華使我看見兩筐無花果放在祂的殿前。一筐無花果極好，好像初熟的果子；另一筐則壞得不能吃。耶和華問我：「耶利米啊，你看見什麼？」我回答說：「無花果。好的好極了，壞的壞得不能吃。」耶和華便對我說：「以色列的上帝耶和華這樣說，『那些從這裡被擄到迦勒底的猶大人在我眼中是好無花果。我要眷顧他們，帶他們回到這裡。我要使他們興起，不再毀滅他們；我要栽培他們，不再剷除他們；我要賜給他們一顆心，使他們認識我是耶和華。他們要做我的子民，我要做他們的上帝，因為他們必全心全意地歸向我。』

我曾為從前寫的那封信令你們憂傷而後悔，但現在不後悔了，因為我知道那封信令你們憂傷只是暫時的。

我也必把猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和其他被擄到巴比倫的猶大人帶回來，因為我要折斷巴比倫王奴役你們的軛。這是耶和華說的。』」

你們看，我親手寫給你們的字是多麼大啊！
