Why will you and your people die by the sword, famine and plague with which the Lord has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

Why should you and your people die? Why should you die of war, hunger and plague? That’s what the Lord said would happen to any nation that won’t serve the king of Babylon.

Why will you and your people die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence, as the Lord has spoken concerning any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

Why do you insist on dying— you and your people? Why should you choose war, famine, and disease, which the Lord will bring against every nation that refuses to submit to Babylon’s king?

Why should you die, you and your people, by the sword, famine, and plague, as the Lord has spoken to the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

There is no reason why you and your people should die in war or from starvation or disease! That’s what the LORD says will happen to any nation that will not be subject to the king of Babylon.

你们要把所犯的一切罪过尽行抛弃，为自己造一个新的心和新的灵。以色列家啊，你们为什么要死呢？

“无论哪一邦、哪一国，不肯服事巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒，不把颈项放在他的轭下，我必用刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫惩罚那邦，直到我藉巴比伦王的手毁灭他们。这是耶和华说的。

得罪我的，害了自己的生命，凡恨恶我的，喜爱死亡。”

你要对他们说，主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，我断不喜悦恶人死亡，惟喜悦恶人转离他所行的道而存活。以色列家啊，你们回转，回转离开恶道吧！何必死亡呢？

我必使他们在地上万国中成为恐惧，成为灾祸，在我赶逐他们到的各处成为凌辱、笑柄、讥笑、诅咒的对象。

耶利米说：“迦勒底人必不把你交出。求你听从我对你所说耶和华的话，这样对你有好处，你的命也必存活。

“主耶和华如此说：我若将这四样大灾，就是刀剑、饥荒、恶兽、瘟疫降在耶路撒冷，将人与牲畜从其中剪除，岂不是更严重吗？

至于义人，他若转离义行而作恶，照着恶人所做一切可憎的事去做，岂能存活呢？他所行的一切义都不被记念；反而因所行的恶、所犯的罪死亡。

“耶和华如此说：留在这城里的必遭刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫而死，但归向迦勒底人的必得存活；至少能保全自己的性命，得以存活。
