I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said,“ Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.

I gave the same message to Zedekiah, the king of Judah. I said,“ Put your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon. Obey him. Serve his people. Then you will live.

To Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke in like manner:“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people and live.

Then I repeated this same message to King Zedekiah of Judah.“ If you want to live, submit to the yoke of the king of Babylon and his people.

I spoke to King Zedekiah of Judah in the same way:“ Put your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, serve him and his people, and live!

I spoke words like all these to Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and live!

I also spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying,“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live!

那一年、當猶大王西底家開始掌國政的第四年五月，基遍人押朔的兒子神言人哈拿尼雅在永恆主殿中當着祭司和眾民面前告訴我說：

耶利米對西底家說：『永恆主萬軍之上帝以色列之上帝這麼說：你若毅然出去歸降巴比倫王的首領，你的性命就得以活着，這城也不至於被火焚燒，你和你的家就得以活着。

『「『將來無論哪一國哪一邦不服事他，不服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，不將脖子放在巴比倫王的軛下的，我必用刀劍、饑荒、和瘟疫、去察罰那國，永恆主發神諭說，直到把他們都交在巴比倫王手中。

惟獨聽我的、必安然居住，得享寧靜，免受災禍的恐怖。

永恆主對我這麼說：『你要為自己作繩索和軛，掛在自己的脖子上。要藉着那些到耶路撒冷來見猶大王西底家的使臣的手、把信息送到以東王、摩押王、亞捫人的王、推羅王、西頓王那裏。

西底家登極的時候二十一歲；他在耶路撒冷作王十一年。他行了永恆主他的上帝所看為壞的事；不在神言人耶利米面前自己謙卑，雖然耶利米是奉永恆主的命令來說話的。並且呢，尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着上帝來起誓，他也背叛了那王；硬着脖子，心裏頑固，不歸向永恆主以色列的上帝。

永恆主的話傳與我說：『你要對叛逆之家說：你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思麼？你要告訴他們說：看哪，巴比倫王曾經來到耶路撒冷，將其中的王和首領帶到巴比倫自己那裏。他從以色列王家後裔中取了一人，叫他發咒起誓、而跟他立約，巴王將國中有勢力的人擄去，使國低微，不能挺起，惟獨守約才得以存立。但他卻背叛了巴王，反而差遣使者往埃及去，要他們給他馬匹和許多兵丁。他哪能順利成功呢？行這樣事的人哪能逃脫呢？違反了盟約哪能逃脫呢？主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓：巴王立他做王，他竟藐視了發咒起誓的話，違反了巴王跟他所立的約；因此他一定必死在巴比倫、巴王住的地方。敵人倒土堆築了壘要剪滅許多人時，法老雖領了大軍隊大羣眾人也不能在戰陣上跟他周旋呀。他藐視了發咒起誓的話，違犯了盟約；曾經舉手起了誓，還行這一切事，他必不能逃脫。因此主永恆主這麼說：我指着永活的我來起誓，對他所藐視我發咒起誓的話、和他所違犯我立的約、我一定要將這罪還報在他頭上。我必將我的網撒在他身上，他必在我的網羅中被捉住；我要把他帶到巴比倫，在那裏判罰他對我不忠實的罪。在他全部隊中、他所有的精兵都必倒斃於刀下；剩下的必被撒於四方；你們就知道是我永恆主說了。』
