“ Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil, for they prophesied in the name of Baal and led my people of Israel into sin.

Among the prophets of Samaria I saw something disgusting: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ Moreover, among the prophets of Samaria I saw an offensive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.

“ And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria: They prophesied by Baal And caused My people Israel to err.

The LORD says,“ I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something that was disgusting. They prophesied in the name of the god Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria. They prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

那些領導這人民的、使他們走錯了路；那些被領導的、都混混亂亂。）

祭司都不查問說：「永恆主在哪裏？」那些處理禮節規矩的都不認識我，牧民者都悖逆了我；神言人藉着巴力去傳神言，隨從着無益的神。

以利亞說：『把以色列搞壞的並不是我，乃是你、和你父的家呀；因為你離棄了永恆主的誡命，去隨從眾巴力。現在你要差遣人集合以色列人、和巴力的神言人四百五十個、以及亞舍拉的神言人四百個、都上迦密山去見我。』亞哈就差遣人到以色列眾人中去集合所有的神言人都上迦密山。以利亞湊近眾民面前，說：『你們猶豫於兩可之間、要到幾時呢？如果永恆主是上帝，你們就應該隨從永恆主；如果巴力是上帝，你們就隨從巴力好啦。』眾民一句話也不回答。

察罰的日子來了，報應的日子到了，以色列必知道的。神言人愚忘，靈感動的人瘋狂，都因你罪孽之大，仇恨之深。神言人是以法連的守望者，我的上帝之人民的看守人；然而在他所行的路上都有捕鳥人的機檻，在他的上帝家中都有仇恨要害他。

以利亞對他們說：『將巴力的神言人捉住；一個也不可讓逃脫。』眾人就把他們捉住；以利亞將他們帶下去到基順谿谷中，在那裏把他們宰殺掉。

然而瑪拿西卻迷惑了猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民去行壞事，比永恆主從以色列人面前所除滅的外國人更壞。

以利亞對巴力的神言人說：『你們人多，你們要先挑選一隻公牛；豫備好了；就呼求你們的神的名；可不要放火。』他們將給了他們的公牛豫備好了，就呼求巴力的名，從早晨直到中午一直呼求說：『巴力啊，答應我們吧！』卻沒有聲音，也沒有答應的；他們直在所造的祭壇旁舞蹈跳躍。到了正午、以利亞戲弄他們、說：『大聲呼求吧；因為他是神；他或者在默想，或者曾退到一邊，或者在路上，又萬一是在睡覺呢！那就該叫醒過來呀！』他們直大聲呼求，按照法術用刀槍刻劃身體，直到血流滿身。
