「各國的人經過這城時都會彼此議論說，『為什麼耶和華這樣對待這座大城？』

许多国的民要经过这城，各人对邻舍说：‘耶和华为何向这大城如此行呢？’

“许多国的百姓经过这城，就彼此谈论说：‘耶和华为何向这大城这样做呢？’

“许多国的百姓经过这城，就彼此谈论说：‘耶和华为何向这大城这样做呢？’

“各国的人经过这城时都会彼此议论说，‘为什么耶和华这样对待这座大城？’

多国的人必经过这城，彼此发问：‘耶和华为什么这样对待这大城呢？’

「許多國的百姓經過這城，就彼此談論說：『耶和華為何向這大城這樣做呢？』

多國的人必經過這城，彼此發問：‘耶和華為甚麼這樣對待這大城呢？’

『「必有許多國的人要經過這城，彼此對問說：『永恆主為甚麼這樣罰辦這個大城呢？』

多邦之人經是邑者、將相語曰、耶和華如是待此大邑、何故、

凡鄰國眾庶、經過是邑、互相告語、曰、耶和華罰此大邑、何為至於若斯。

諸國之人、經過是邑、彼此問曰、主何為待此大邑如此、

“ People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’

“ People from many nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’

“‘ And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor,“ Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?”

“ People from many nations will pass by the ruins of this city and say to one another,‘ Why did the Lord destroy such a great city?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the LORD do such a thing to this great city?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city; and they will say to one another,‘ Why has the Lord done this to this great city?’

And many nations will pass by this city; and everyone will say to his neighbor,‘ Why has the Lord done so to this great city?’

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city?

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the Lord do such a thing to this great city?’

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

“‘ People from other nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another,“ Why has the LORD done such a thing to this great city?”

“ Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor,‘ Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’

這殿雖然宏偉，但將來經過的人必驚訝，譏笑說，『耶和華為什麼這樣對待這地方和這殿呢？』人們會回答，『因為他們背棄曾領他們祖先離開埃及的耶和華——他們的上帝，去追隨、祭拜、供奉別的神明，所以耶和華把這一切災禍降在他們身上。』」

我必把你們從我賜給你們的土地上剷除，並離棄我為自己的名而使之聖潔的這殿，使這殿在萬民中成為笑柄、被人嘲諷。這殿雖然宏偉，但將來經過的人必驚訝地問，『耶和華為什麼這樣對待這地方和這殿呢？』人們會回答，『因為他們背棄曾領他們祖先離開埃及的耶和華——他們的上帝，去追隨、祭拜、供奉別的神明，所以耶和華把這一切災禍降在他們身上。』」

遍地將是硫磺和鹽，無法耕種，寸草不生，如同耶和華盛怒之下毀滅的所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪和洗扁。萬國必問，『耶和華為什麼要這樣對待這地方？祂為什麼大發烈怒？』必有人回答說，『因為這地方的人背棄了他們祖先的上帝耶和華領他們出埃及時與他們所立的約，去供奉、祭拜他們所不認識、並非耶和華所分派的神明。

路人都拍掌嘲笑你。他們向耶路撒冷城搖頭，嗤笑道：「這就是那被譽為完美無瑕、普世喜悅的城嗎？」敵人都幸災樂禍地譏諷你，他們咬牙切齒地說：「我們吞滅了她！這是我們期待已久的日子！我們終於見到這一天了！」耶和華實現了祂的計劃，成就了祂很久以前的應許。祂毫不留情地毀滅了你，使你的仇敵幸災樂禍，耀武揚威。

主啊，你是公義的，我們今日滿面羞愧，我們猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因對你不忠而被驅散到遠近各地的以色列人都滿面羞愧。

「當你把這些話告訴他們的時候，他們會質問你，『耶和華為什麼給我們降這大災難？我們有什麼罪？我們哪裡得罪了我們的上帝耶和華？』

世上的君王和居民都不相信敵人能闖進耶路撒冷的城門。
