But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue[ that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This[ is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness[ is] of me, saith the LORD.

Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

Yet the defenced city[ shall be] desolate,[ and] the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come,[ and] set them on fire: for it[ is] a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.

And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation[ which] shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but[ it is] in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

But when the king heard[ thereof], he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and[ there shall be] none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.Go up against the land of Merathaim,[ even] against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.A sound of battle[ is] in the land, and of great destruction.How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
