约雅斤登基的时候年十八岁，在耶路撒冷作王三个月。他母亲名叫尼护施他，是耶路撒冷人以利拿单的女儿。

他们问你说：‘我们往哪里去呢？’你便告诉他们：‘耶和华如此说：定为死亡的，必致死亡；定为刀杀的，必交刀杀；定为饥荒的，必遭饥荒；定为掳掠的，必被掳掠。’”耶和华说：“我命定四样害他们，就是刀剑杀戮、狗类撕裂、空中的飞鸟，和地上的野兽吞吃毁灭；又必使他们在天下万国中抛来抛去，都因犹大王希西家的儿子玛拿西在耶路撒冷所行的事。”

约雅斤登基的时候年八岁，在耶路撒冷作王三个月零十天，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事。过了一年，尼布甲尼撒差遣人将约雅斤和耶和华殿里各样宝贵的器皿带到巴比伦，就立约雅斤的叔叔西底家作犹大和耶路撒冷的王。

他们用钩子钩住它，将它放在笼中，带到巴比伦王那里，将它放入坚固之所，使它的声音在以色列山上不再听见。“你的母亲先前如葡萄树，极其茂盛，栽于水旁。因为水多，就多结果子，满生枝子；生出坚固的枝干，可作掌权者的杖。这枝干高举在茂密的枝中，而且它生长高大，枝子繁多，远远可见。但这葡萄树因忿怒被拔出摔在地上；东风吹干其上的果子，坚固的枝干折断枯干，被火烧毁了；如今栽于旷野干旱无水之地。火也从它枝干中发出，烧灭果子，以致没有坚固的枝干可做掌权者的杖。“这是哀歌，也必用以作哀歌。”
