『耶路撒冷啊，上利巴嫩去哀叫哦！在巴珊揚聲哦！從亞巴琳哀叫哦！因為你的親愛者都破毁了。

爾其陟利巴嫩而哀號、在巴珊揚聲、自亞巴琳哀號、蓋爾之情人皆亡矣、

必登利巴嫩而大呼、在巴山舉哀、在亞巴林呼號、蓋爾良朋已喪、

耶路撒冷民歟、爾當登利巴嫩而大呼、在巴珊發聲、在亞巴琳呼號、蓋愛爾者悉已敗亡、

“ Go up to Lebanon and cry out, let your voice be heard in Bashan, cry out from Abarim, for all your allies are crushed.

The Lord says,“ People of Jerusalem, go up to Lebanon. Cry out for help. Let your voice be heard in the land of Bashan. Cry out from the mountains of Abarim. All those who were going to help you are crushed.

“ Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, and lift up your voice in Bashan; cry out from Abarim, for all your lovers are destroyed.

Weep for your allies in Lebanon. Shout for them in Bashan. Search for them in the regions east of the river. See, they are all destroyed. Not one is left to help you.

Go up to Lebanon and cry out, And raise your voice in Bashan; Cry out also from Abarim, For all your lovers have been crushed.

“ Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, And lift up your voice in Bashan; Cry from Abarim, For all your lovers are destroyed.

People of Jerusalem, go up to Lebanon and cry out in mourning. Go to the land of Bashan and cry out loudly. Cry out in mourning from the mountains of Moab. For your allies have all been defeated.

“ Go up to Lebanon, and cry. Lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all your lovers have been destroyed.

Then the LORD said to Moses,“ Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites.

She weeps bitterly during the night, with tears on her cheeks. There is no one to offer her comfort, not one from all her lovers. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.

“ Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Lord GOD says: I am going to incite your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust. I will bring them against you from every side:

How unstable you are, constantly changing your ways! You will be put to shame by Egypt just as you were put to shame by Assyria.Moreover, you will be led out from here with your hands on your head since the LORD has rejected those you trust; you will not succeed even with their help.If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him to marry another, can he ever return to her? Wouldn’t such a land become totally defiled? But you! You have prostituted yourself with many partners— can you return to me? This is the LORD’s declaration.

And you, devastated one, what are you doing that you dress yourself in scarlet, that you adorn yourself with gold jewelry, that you enhance your eyes with makeup? You beautify yourself for nothing. Your lovers reject you; they intend to take your life.

“ Go up Mount Nebo in the Abarim range in the land of Moab, across from Jericho, and view the land of Canaan I am giving the Israelites as a possession.

I am going to send for all the families of the north’— this is the LORD’s declaration—‘ and send for my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will bring them against this land, against its residents, and against all these surrounding nations, and I will completely destroy them and make them an example of horror and scorn, and ruins forever.

You have no defender for your case. There is no remedy for your sores, and no healing for you.All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer look for you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.Why do you cry out about your injury? Your pain has no cure! I have done these things to you because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.

Woe to the rebellious children! This is the LORD’s declaration. They carry out a plan, but not mine; they make an alliance, but against my will, piling sin on top of sin.Without asking my advice they set out to go down to Egypt in order to seek shelter under Pharaoh’s protection and take refuge in Egypt’s shadow.But Pharaoh’s protection will become your shame, and refuge in Egypt’s shadow your humiliation.For though his princes are at Zoan and his messengers reach as far as Hanes,everyone will be ashamed because of a people who can’t help. They are of no benefit, they are no help; they are good for nothing but shame and disgrace.A pronouncement concerning the animals of the Negev: Through a land of trouble and distress, of lioness and lion, of viper and flying serpent, they carry their wealth on the backs of donkeys and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people who will not help them.Egypt’s help is completely worthless; therefore, I call her: Rahab Who Just Sits.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and who depend on horses! They trust in the abundance of chariots and in the large number of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel, and they do not seek the LORD.But he also is wise and brings disaster. He does not go back on what he says; he will rise up against the house of the wicked and against the allies of evildoers.Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the LORD raises his hand to strike, the helper will stumble and the one who is helped will fall; both will perish together.

So I took the cup from the LORD’s hand and made all the nations to whom the LORD sent me drink from it.Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah, its kings and its officials, to make them a desolate ruin, an example for scorn and cursing— as it is today;Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officers, his leaders, all his people,and all the mixed peoples; all the kings of the land of Uz; all the kings of the land of the Philistines— Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;Edom, Moab, and the Ammonites;all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coasts and islands;Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all those who clip the hair on their temples;all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed peoples who have settled in the desert;all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;all the kings of the north, both near and far from one another; that is, all the kingdoms of the world throughout the earth. Finally, the king of Sheshak will drink after them.“ Then you are to say to them,‘ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk, and vomit. Fall down and never get up again, as a result of the sword I am sending among you.’

I called to my lovers, but they betrayed me. My priests and elders perished in the city while searching for food to keep themselves alive.

Now the king of Egypt did not march out of his land again, for the king of Babylon took everything that had belonged to the king of Egypt, from the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

Therefore, I handed her over to her lovers, the Assyrians she lusted for.

The wind will take charge of all your shepherds, and your lovers will go into captivity. Then you will be ashamed and humiliated because of all your evil.

Those who made Cush their hope and Egypt their boast will be dismayed and ashamed.And the inhabitants of this coastland will say on that day,‘ Look, this is what has happened to those we relied on and fled to for help to rescue us from the king of Assyria! Now, how will we escape?’”
