For Yahweh says touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went out of this place:“ He won’t return there any more.

His servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. The people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s place.Jehoahaz was twenty- three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, according to all that his fathers had done.Pharaoh Necoh put him in bonds at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of one hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.Pharaoh Necoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim; but he took Jehoahaz away, and he came to Egypt and died there.

Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:“ They won’t lament for him, saying,‘ Ah my brother!’ or,‘ Ah sister!’ They won’t lament for him, saying‘ Ah lord!’ or,‘ Ah his glory!’

The archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants,“ Take me away, because I am seriously wounded!”So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel. Behold, they are written in the lamentations.

‘ Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’”’” So they brought this message back to the king.

She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.

But Jesus, turning to them, said,“ Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
