But the next day Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks. When he did, Jeremiah said to him,“ The LORD’s name for you is not‘ Pashhur’ but‘ Terror is Everywhere.’

On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him,“ Yahweh has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.

For I heard many mocking:“ Fear on every side!”“ Report,” they say,“ and we will report it!” All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying,“ Perhaps he can be induced; Then we will prevail against him, And we will take our revenge on him.”

Do not go out into the field, Nor walk by the way. Because of the sword of the enemy, Fear is on every side.

Why have I seen them dismayed and turned back? Their mighty ones are beaten down; They have speedily fled, And did not look back, For fear was all around,” says the Lord.

Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me,“ Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;

“ You have invited as to a feast day The terrors that surround me. In the day of the LORD’s anger There was no refugee or survivor. Those whom I have borne and brought up My enemies have destroyed.”

For I hear the slander of many; Fear is on every side; While they take counsel together against me, They scheme to take away my life.

Now Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.

And go out to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the Potsherd Gate; and proclaim there the words that I will tell you,

therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,“ that this place shall no more be called Tophet or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.

And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes,as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.And when they had set them in the midst, they asked,“ By what power or by what name have you done this?”

And he brought them out and said,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

“ Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,“ when it will no more be called Tophet, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter; for they will bury in Tophet until there is no room.

Then the Lord said to him:“ Call his name Jezreel, For in a little while I will avenge the bloodshed of Jezreel on the house of Jehu, And bring an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.It shall come to pass in that day That I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel.”And she conceived again and bore a daughter. Then God said to him:“ Call her name Lo-Ruhamah, For I will no longer have mercy on the house of Israel, But I will utterly take them away.Yet I will have mercy on the house of Judah, Will save them by the Lord their God, And will not save them by bow, Nor by sword or battle, By horses or horsemen.”Now when she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived and bore a son.Then God said:“ Call his name Lo-Ammi, For you are not My people, And I will not be your God.

And He said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Then God said to Abraham,“ As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

And when it was day, the magistrates sent the officers, saying,“ Let those men go.”So the keeper of the prison reported these words to Paul, saying,“ The magistrates have sent to let you go. Now therefore depart, and go in peace.”But Paul said to them,“ They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out.”And the officers told these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans.Then they came and pleaded with them and brought them out, and asked them to depart from the city.

No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.
