主歟、民遭患難、則仰念主、主加之懲罰、則傾心以祈求主、

彼哀號於床、不以誠心籲我、因絕穀酒而和會、仍違逆我、

彼以背向我、不以面向我、我屢屢原文作每晨誨之、惟彼不聽、不受督責、

彼自此歲暴虐困苦居約但東亞摩利地之以色列人、即居基列地之以色列人、歷十八年、亞捫人亦渡約但、攻猶大便雅憫及以法蓮族、以色列人窘甚、以色列人呼籲主曰、我獲罪於主、因棄我天主、奉事巴力、主諭以色列人曰、我豈未曾救爾於伊及人、亞摩利人、亞捫人、非利士人乎、昔西頓人、亞瑪力人、瑪雲人、虐待爾、爾籲我時、我亦救爾脫於其手、乃爾棄我、服事他神、故我不復救爾、爾所選之神、爾往籲之、爾遭難時、使彼救爾、以色列人禱主曰、我已犯罪、任主懲責、惟求主今日救我、遂從其中除外邦之神、而奉事主、主因以色列人困苦已極、中心不忍、

作偶像者悉為虛妄、其所慕者無益、可自為證、彼不見不知、必致羞愧、誰作神像、鑄無益之偶像、其伴侶悉生愧怍、作像者、亦僅人而已、倘彼聚集而立、必皆恐懼、咸蒙羞恥、鐵工造鑿、造鑿或作截鐵炭以鍛之、鎚以治之、竭一臂之力而製造、甚至饑餓力疲、不飲水而困憊、木工用準繩、以墨畫線、用利器雕刻、循規矩製造、作如人形、猶俊美之人體、置之於室、或為己伐柏香木、或取栗樹、橡樹、或選林中他樹、或植杉樹、得雨長養、凡此之木、人用之為薪、取以暖體、用以燃火烘餅、復用以作神像叩拜、用以作偶像、俯伏其前、以其半焚於火、即用以烹肉而食、或炙肉食以果腹、又藉以暖體、曰、噫、我溫矣、覺熱矣、所餘即作神像偶像、俯伏其前叩拜、禱之曰、求爾救我、因爾即我神、惟彼不知不悟、目塗不見、心蔽不明、心不思維、無識無知、獨不自問曰、此木之半、我焚之於火、在其炭上炊餅炙肉而食、則其所餘、豈可用作可憎之偶像、豈可俯伏而拜塊木乎、彼如以灰為食、中心昏昧、入於迷途、不知自救、不自曰、我右手所作、悉屬虛妄、

我必使斯民散於敵人前、如東風散草芥、彼遭難之時、我以背向之、不以面向之、○

天主誅之之時、彼始祈禱天主、回心轉意、尋求天主、追想天主為其可倚之主、至上之天主、曾已救贖之、然彼仍以口欺罔天主、以舌向主說誑、向主無恆心、無誠心以守主約、

異邦之偶像、或金或銀、悉為人手所造、有口不能言、有目不能視、有耳不能聽、有鼻不能聞、有手不能以捫、有足不能以行、有喉不能以出聲、造偶像與賴偶像者、亦皆與偶像無異、

主天主如是云、因爾忘我、背棄我、必受爾邪慝淫行之報、

遂導我至主殿之內院、見在主殿之門、在廊與祭臺之間、約有二十五人、背主殿、面向東方、向東拜日、

爾居利巴嫩、巢於柏香木者、既受痛苦、戰慄如產婦、爾豈不哀慘、爾豈不哀慘或作爾何其可憫

爾猶如野驢、習於曠野、慾心發動之時吸風、斯際孰能禁之、惟尋之者、無庸勞乏、必可於是月尋得、

彼皆愚昧、同為無識、拜偶像之典章、盡屬虛妄、所拜者惟木偶、

人自囊傾金、以衡衡銀、覓銀工、製神像、俯伏崇拜、舉而舁之於肩、置於定處、立而不離其所、呼籲之而不應、亦不能救人於難、爾悖逆之人、當思其事、當自思己乃人也、當心中醒悟、

我將去矣、歸於我所、迨其自覺有罪、則尋求我面、遭難之時、必切切思慕我、

工人雕刻之偶像、何益之有、鑄像與偽師、偽師或作述虛誑之師何益之有、工人作不能言之偶像、賴己所作者、何益之有、或作工人所雕刻之偶像所鎔鑄之偶像虛偽不能應所作之偶像口不能言作之者賴之何益之有呼木偶曰、醒歟、呼不能言之石像曰、起歟、斯人禍矣、偶像豈能應應或作垂訓乎、俱飾以金銀者、其中無生氣、其中無生氣或作不通呼吸
