禍哉！那些下埃及求幫助的，他們仰賴馬匹，倚靠甚多的戰車，並倚靠強壯的騎兵，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，也不求問耶和華。

你為何東奔西跑改變你的道路呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像從前因亞述蒙羞一樣。

以法蓮見自己有病，猶大見自己有傷，以法蓮就前往亞述，差遣人去見大王；他卻不能醫治你們，不能治好你們的傷。

亞述王提革拉‧毗列色來攻擊他，不幫助他，反倒欺負他。亞哈斯從耶和華殿裏和王宮中，以及眾領袖家中取財寶送給亞述王，也無濟於事。

我們的眼目徒然仰望幫助，以致失明，我們從瞭望臺所守望的，竟是一個不能救人的國！

他卻背叛巴比倫王，差派使者前往埃及，要求埃及人給他馬匹和許多人。他豈能亨通呢？這樣做的人豈能逃脫呢？他背了約豈能逃脫呢？

亞哈斯派使者到亞述王提革拉‧毗列色那裏，說：「我是你的僕人，你的兒子。現在亞蘭王和以色列王攻擊我，求你上來，救我脫離他們的手。」亞哈斯將耶和華殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的金銀都送給亞述王為禮物。亞述王答應了他，上去攻打大馬士革，攻下了城，殺了利汛，把居民擄到吉珥。

耶和華說：「禍哉！這悖逆的兒女。他們同謀，卻不出於我，結盟，卻不出於我的靈，以致罪上加罪。他們沒有尋求我的指示，就起身下埃及去，要倚靠法老的庇護堅固自己，並投在埃及的蔭下。但法老的庇護反成為你們的羞辱；你們投在埃及蔭下，反使你們慚愧。他們的領袖已在瑣安，他們的使臣到了哈內斯。他們必因那無益於他們的民蒙羞；那民並非幫助，也非有益，只帶來羞恥和凌辱。」論尼革夫牲畜的默示。他們將財物馱在驢背上，將寶物馱在駱駝的背脊，經過艱難困苦之地，就是母獅、公獅、毒蛇、飛蛇之地，往那無益於他們的民那裏去。埃及的幫助是徒然的，因此，我稱它為「毫不中用的拉哈伯」。
