并且我要发怒，用刀杀死你们，使你们的妻子成为寡妇，你们的儿女成为孤儿。

我们成为孤儿，没有父亲，我们的母亲好像寡妇一样。

我使他们寡妇的数目比海沙还多；我使行毁灭的在午间临到我的子民，打击年轻人的母亲，使痛苦的惊恐忽然临到她们身上。

外有刀剑，内有惊恐，使人丧亡，使少男少女，婴孩和白发老人，尽都丧亡。

“我在你们中间降下瘟疫，正如临到埃及的瘟疫一样；我用刀杀掉你们的年轻人，你们被掳去的马匹也遭杀戮；我使你们营里死尸的臭气扑鼻，但你们仍不归向我。”这是耶和华的宣告。

耶和华使迦勒底人的王上来攻打他们，在他们的圣殿里用刀杀了他们的壮丁，少男和少女以及年老衰弱的，他们都不怜惜；耶和华把所有这些人都交在迦勒底王的手里。

音麦的儿子巴施户珥祭司，就是耶和华殿的总管，他听见了耶利米预言这些事，就殴打耶利米先知，把他枷锁在耶和华殿里，朝向便雅悯的上门内。次日，巴施户珥把耶利米从枷锁上解下来，耶利米就对他说：“耶和华不再称你的名为巴施户珥，却要称你为玛歌珥．米撒毕（“玛歌珥．米撒毕”意即“四围惊慌”）。因为耶和华这样说：‘看哪！我要使你自己和你所有的朋友都惊惶失措；他们必倒在他们仇敌的刀下，你也必亲眼看见。我要把全犹大交在巴比伦王手中；他要把他们掳到巴比伦去，或用刀击杀他们。我要把这城的一切财物、一切劳碌得来的、一切珍宝和犹大列王的一切宝物，都交在他们仇敌的手中；仇敌要把这一切抢劫掠夺，带回巴比伦去。巴施户珥啊！你和所有住在你家里的人，都要被掳去；你和你所有的朋友，就是你向他们说假预言的，都要到巴比伦去，死在那里，也葬在那里。’”

铜匠亚历山大作了许多恶事陷害我，主必按着他所行的报应他。

但耶和华啊！你认识我，了解我，你察验了我对你的心意。求你把他们拉出来，好像将宰的羊一般；求你把他们分别出来，留待宰杀的日子。

如果他们问你：‘我们要去哪里？’你就告诉他们：‘耶和华这样说：该死亡的，就死亡；该被刀剑所杀的，就被刀剑所杀；该遭遇饥荒的，就遭遇饥荒；该被掳的，就被掳去！’我要命定四种刑罚对付他们，就是刀剑杀戮，尸体被野狗拖走，被空中的飞鸟和地上的走兽吞吃与毁灭。”这是耶和华的宣告。
