God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter’s earthen bottle, and[ take] of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which[ is] by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,

Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall[ made] by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.

But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord[ said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city,[ even] Jerusalem:And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set[ battering] rams against it round about.Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it[ for] a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This[ shall be] a sign to the house of Israel.Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it:[ according] to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
