For as the undergarment clings to the waist of a man, so I made the entire household of Israel and the entire household of Judah cling to Me,’ declares the Lord,‘ so that they might be My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they did not listen.’

For as a belt is bound around the waist, so I bound all the people of Israel and all the people of Judah to me,’ declares the Lord,‘ to be my people for my renown and praise and honor. But they have not listened.’

A belt is tied around a person’s waist. In the same way, I tied all the people of Israel to me. I also tied all the people of Judah to me like a belt. I wanted them to be my people. They should have brought me fame and praise and honor. But they have not listened to me,” announces the Lord.

For as the loincloth clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, declares the Lord, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory, but they would not listen.

As a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I created Judah and Israel to cling to me, says the Lord. They were to be my people, my pride, my glory— an honor to my name. But they would not listen to me.

Just as underwear clings to one’s waist, so I fastened the whole house of Israel and of Judah to me”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ so that they might be my people for my fame, praise, and glory, but they would not obey.

For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me,’ says the Lord,‘ that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith Jehovah; that they may be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

For,’ I say,‘ just as shorts cling tightly to a person’s body, so I bound the whole nation of Israel and the whole nation of Judah tightly to me.’ I intended for them to be my special people and to bring me fame, honor, and praise. But they would not obey me.

For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says Yahweh;‘ that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.”

It will be to Me a name of joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth, which will hear of all the good that I do for them, and they will be frightened and tremble because of all the good and all the peace that I make for it.’

The people whom I formed for Myself Will declare My praise.

“ But My people did not listen to My voice, And Israel did not obey Me.

And the Lord has today declared you to be His people, His personal possession, just as He promised you, and that you are to keep all His commandments;

And I set watchmen over you, saying,‘ Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said,‘ We will not listen.’

He found him in a desert land, And in the howling wasteland of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the apple of His eye.As an eagle stirs up its nest, And hovers over its young, He spread His wings, He caught them, He carried them on His pinions.The Lord alone guided him, And there was no foreign god with him.He had him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And He had him suck honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock,Curds of the herd, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs And rams, the breed of Bashan, and of goats, With the best of the wheat; And you drank wine of the blood of grapes.“ But Jeshurun became fat and kicked— You have become fat, thick, and obstinate— Then he abandoned God who made him, And rejected the Rock of his salvation.

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel as His own possession.

This wicked people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have followed other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, let them be just like this undergarment which is completely useless.

And they will call them,“ The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord”; And you will be called,“ Sought Out, A City Not Abandoned.”

For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is the Lord our God whenever we call on Him?

And the Father who sent Me, He has testified about Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.Also you do not have His word remaining in you, because you do not believe Him whom He sent.You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is those very Scriptures that testify about Me;and yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Yet they did not listen to Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck; they did more evil than their fathers.

who has accomplished signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day both in Israel and among mankind; and You have made a name for Yourself, as at this day.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

He has not dealt this way with any other nation; And as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the Lord!
