The men of Israel had taken an oath at Mizpah:“ Not one of us will give his daughter in marriage to a Benjamite.”

The men of Israel had made a promise at Mizpah. They had said,“ Not one of us will give his daughter to be married to a man from Benjamin.”

Now the men of Israel had sworn at Mizpah,“ No one of us shall give his daughter in marriage to Benjamin.”

The Israelites had vowed at Mizpah,“ We will never give our daughters in marriage to a man from the tribe of Benjamin.”

众民都起来如同一人，说：“我们连一人都不回自己帐棚、自己房屋去。

你在神面前不可冒失开口，也不可心急发言；因为神在天上，你在地下，所以你的言语要寡少。

又对她起誓说：“随你向我求什么，就是我国的一半，我也必给你。”

以色列人彼此问说：“以色列各支派中，谁没有同会众上到耶和华面前来呢？”先是以色列人起过大誓说，凡不上米斯巴到耶和华面前来的，必将他治死。

百姓中有一人对他说：“你父亲曾叫百姓严严地起誓说，今日吃什么的，必受咒诅；因此百姓就疲乏了。”约拿单说：“我父亲连累你们了。你看，我尝了这一点蜜，眼睛就明亮了。

到了天亮，犹太人同谋起誓，说：“若不先杀保罗就不吃不喝。”

耶和华你神将他们交给你击杀，那时你要把他们灭绝净尽，不可与他们立约，也不可怜恤他们。不可与他们结亲。不可将你的女儿嫁他们的儿子，也不可叫你的儿子娶他们的女儿；

我们要在以色列各支派中，一百人挑取十人，一千人挑取百人，一万人挑取千人，为民运粮，等大众到了便雅悯的基比亚，就照基比亚人在以色列中所行的丑事征伐他们。”

我们既在耶和华面前起誓说，必不将我们的女儿给便雅悯人为妻，现在我们当怎样办理、使他们剩下的人有妻呢？”

我可以证明，他们向神有热心，但不是按着真知识；

耶弗他就向耶和华许愿，说：“你若将亚扪人交在我手中，我从亚扪人那里平平安安回来的时候，无论什么人，先从我家门出来迎接我，就必归你，我也必将他献上为燔祭。”

你必凭诚实、公平、公义，指着永生的耶和华起誓；列国必因耶和华称自己为有福，也必因他夸耀。”

扫罗叫百姓起誓说，凡不等到晚上向敌人报完了仇吃什么的，必受咒诅。因此这日百姓没有吃什么，就极其困惫。

你要谨慎，不可与你所去那地的居民立约，恐怕成为你们中间的网罗；却要拆毁他们的祭坛，打碎他们的柱像，砍下他们的木偶。不可敬拜别神；因为耶和华是忌邪的神，名为忌邪者。只怕你与那地的居民立约，百姓随从他们的神，就行邪淫，祭祀他们的神，有人叫你，你便吃他的祭物，又为你的儿子娶他们的女儿为妻，他们的女儿随从她们的神，就行邪淫，使你的儿子也随从她们的神行邪淫。
