But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.

But when the leader died, the people returned to their evil ways. The things they did were even more sinful than the things their people before them had done. They served other gods and worshiped them. They refused to give up their evil practices. They wouldn’t change their stubborn ways.

约书亚在世的日子和他死了以后，那些见过耶和华为以色列所做一切大事的长老还在世的时候，百姓都事奉耶和华。

那时，人必称耶路撒冷为耶和华的宝座；万国聚集在那里，为耶和华的名来到耶路撒冷，他们必不再随从自己顽梗的恶心行事。

约书亚在世的日子和他死了以后，那些知道耶和华为以色列所做一切事的长老还在世的时候，以色列人事奉耶和华。

耶何耶大死后，犹大的众领袖来叩拜王，那时王就听了他们。他们离弃耶和华—他们列祖神的殿，去事奉亚舍拉和偶像；因他们这罪，就有愤怒临到犹大和耶路撒冷。

不要像他们的祖宗，是顽梗悖逆、心不坚定，向神心不忠实之辈。

你们去充满你们祖宗的恶贯吧！

于是这地太平四十年。基纳斯的儿子俄陀聂死了。以色列人又行耶和华眼中看为恶的事。耶和华使摩押王伊矶伦强大，攻击以色列，因为他们行耶和华眼中看为恶的事。

你们行恶比你们祖先更甚，看哪，各人随从自己顽梗的恶心行事，不听从我。

他们常对藐视我的人说：‘耶和华说：你们必享平安’又对一切按自己顽梗之心而行的人说：‘灾祸必不临到你们。’”

悖逆与占卜的罪相等，顽梗与拜偶像的罪孽相同。因为你厌弃耶和华的命令，耶和华也厌弃你作王。”
