于是非利士人起来作战，以色列人就被击败，各人都往自己的帐棚逃跑。这是一场大屠杀，以色列人中有三万步兵阵亡。神的约柜也被抢去，以利的两个儿子何弗尼和非尼哈也死了。

米迦就把那十二公斤银子归还给他母亲；他母亲说：“我把这些银子从我手中分别为圣，为我的儿子归给耶和华，好做一个雕像，一个铸像；现在，我要还给你。”

西坡拉生了一个儿子，摩西给他起名叫革舜，因为他说：“我在异地作了客旅。”

他丢弃了在示罗的居所，就是他在世人中间居住的帐棚。他又把象征他权能的约柜交给人掳去，把他的荣美交在敌人的手里，并且把自己的子民交给刀剑，向自己的产业大发烈怒。

以色列人又行了耶和华看为恶的事，耶和华就把他们交在非利士人手中四十年。

“‘制造耶和华厌恶的雕像或铸像，工人手中做的，并且在暗处设立的，那人必受咒诅。’众民都要应声说：‘阿们。’

又带着西坡拉的两个儿子，一个名叫革舜，因为摩西说：“我在异地作了客旅”；

“在你中间，就是耶和华你的神赐给你的任何一座城里，如果发现有人，无论是男是女，行耶和华你的神眼中看为恶的事，违犯了他的约，去事奉别的神，并且敬拜它们，敬拜太阳或月亮，或任何天象，是我耶和华没有吩咐的；有人告诉你，你也听见了，就要好好调查；如果确有这些事，真的在以色列中行了这可憎可厌的事；你就要把那个行了这恶事的男人或女人带出来，到城门那里去，用石头把他们打死。凭着两个或三个见证人的口供，就可以把那该死的人处死；只是凭着一个见证人的口供，却不可以把人处死。见证人要先下手，然后众民也下手，把他处死。这样，你就把那恶从你中间除掉。

“你们不可为自己做偶像，不可为自己立雕像或神柱，也不可在你们的境内安置石像，向它跪拜；因为我是耶和华你们的神。

他把多国的地土赐给他们，他们就承受众民劳碌的成果，为要使他们谨守他的律例，遵守他的律法。你们要赞美耶和华。

因为我知道我死了以后，你们必完全败坏，偏离我吩咐你们的道路；在末后的日子必有灾祸临到你们身上，因为你们必行耶和华看为恶的事，以你们手所作的事，惹他发怒。”

“不可为自己做偶像，也不可做天上、地下和地底下水中各物的形象。

耶和华对摩西说：“看哪，你快要和你的列祖长眠了；这人民要起来，在他们所要去的地方，在那地的人中，与外族人的神行邪淫，离弃我，破坏我与他们所立的约。
