They answered him,“ Be quiet! Don’t say a word. Come with us, and be our father and priest. Isn’t it better that you serve a tribe and clan in Israel as priest rather than just one man’s household?”

They answered him,“ Be quiet! Don’t say a word. Come with us. Be our father and priest. You can serve a whole tribe and family group in Israel as our priest. Isn’t that better than serving just one man’s family?”

And they said to him,“ Keep quiet; put your hand on your mouth and come with us and be to us a father and a priest. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and clan in Israel?”

“ Be quiet and come with us,” they said.“ Be a father and priest to all of us. Isn’t it better to be a priest for an entire tribe and clan of Israel than for the household of just one man?”

They told him,“ Be quiet. Keep your mouth shut. Come with us and be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be a priest for the house of one person or for you to be a priest for a tribe and family in Israel?”

And they said to him,“ Be silent, put your hand over your mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest. Is it better for you to be a priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”

And they said to him,“ Be quiet, put your hand over your mouth, and come with us; be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be a priest to the household of one man, or that you be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”

And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thy hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be priest unto the house of one man, or to be priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?

They told him,“ Be quiet. Keep your mouth shut. Come with us and be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be a priest for the house of one person or for you to be a priest for a tribe and family in Israel?”

And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest:[ is it] better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?

They said to him,“ Shut up! Put your hand over your mouth and come with us! You can be our adviser and priest. Wouldn’t it be better to be a priest for a whole Israelite tribe than for just one man’s family?”

They said to him,“ Hold your peace, put your hand on your mouth, and go with us. Be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”

王侯都停止講話，用手掩口；

米迦說：「你就住在我這裡吧，做我的師父和祭司。我每年給你十塊銀子，還為你提供衣服和膳食。」利未人就進了米迦的家，

你們看到我會大吃一驚，嚇得用手掩口。

列國看見這一切，都必因自己勢力衰微而羞愧，都必用手捂口，耳朵變聾。

你若行事愚昧、妄自尊大或圖謀不軌，就當用手掩口。

以利沙患了不治之症，以色列王約阿施前去探望，伏在他身上哭喊道：「我父啊！我父啊！以色列的戰車和騎兵啊！」

以色列王看見他們，問以利沙說：「我父啊，我可以殺他們嗎？」

「我這樣卑微，怎能答覆你？我只有用手掩口。我說了一次，不能答覆；說了兩次，不敢再說。」

便對哈薛說：「你帶著禮物去見上帝的僕人，請他求問耶和華，看看我這病能否痊癒。」哈薛用四十頭駱駝馱著大馬士革的各種美物前去拜見以利沙。到了那裡，他站在以利沙面前說：「你兒子亞蘭王便·哈達派我來問你，他的病能否痊癒？」

不要稱呼地上的人為父親，因為你們只有一位父親，祂在天上。
