The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the idol, the ephod and the household gods while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance of the gate.

The five men who had looked over the land went inside. They took the statue covered with silver. They also took the family gods and the linen apron. During that time, the priest stood at the entrance of the gate. The 600 men stood there with him. They were prepared for battle.

And the five men who had gone to scout out the land went up and entered and took the carved image, the ephod, the household gods, and the metal image, while the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the 600 men armed with weapons of war.

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up,[ and] came in thither,[ and] took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men[ that were] appointed with weapons of war.

偵察過拉億的五個人對其餘的人說：「你們知道嗎？這家有以弗得、一些家庭神像、一個雕刻的偶像和一個金屬鑄像。想一想我們該怎麼辦。」

米迦把銀子還給母親後，他母親拿出二百塊銀子交給銀匠雕刻、鑄造神像，放在米迦的房子裡。米迦有一個神廟，他製造了一件以弗得和一些家庭神像，並指派他的一個兒子做祭司。

但支派的人從瑣拉和以實陶派本族的五名勇士去打探、察看那個地方。他們吩咐說：「你們去察看那個地方。」他們到了以法蓮山區，在米迦家裡借宿。

那時拉班正在外面剪羊毛，拉結偷了父親的家庭神像。

非利士人叫來他們的祭司和占卜者，問道：「我們該怎樣處理耶和華的約櫃呢？請告訴我們怎樣把它送回原處？」他們答道：「你們若把以色列上帝的約櫃送回去，不可空手送去，一定要向他獻上賠罪的禮物，這樣你們就可以得到醫治，也可以知道他為什麼懲罰你們。」非利士人問：「我們該送什麼作賠罪的禮物呢？」他們答道：「你們要按非利士首領的數目，送五個金毒瘡和五隻金鼠，因為你們和你們的首領都遭受了同樣的災難。所以，你們要製作金毒瘡和毀壞田地的老鼠的像，尊崇以色列的上帝，也許祂會放過你們、你們的神明及田地。你們為什麼像法老和埃及人那樣心裡頑固呢？當上帝嚴厲地對待他們時，他們豈沒有讓以色列人離開埃及嗎？現在，你們快去準備一輛新車，把兩頭還在哺養小牛、從未負過軛的母牛套在車上，然後把小牛帶回牛圈裡。你們要把耶和華的約櫃放在車上，旁邊放箱子，裡面裝賠罪的金物，然後送這輛車上路。你們要留意觀察，如果車朝以色列邊境的伯·示麥去，這大災難就是耶和華降給我們的。如果不朝那方向走，我們就知道不是祂懲罰我們，是偶然發生的。」

又把他們鑄造的牛犢熔化掉，磨成粉末撒在水面上，叫以色列百姓喝。

我要從你們中間除去雕刻的神像和神柱，使你們不再跪拜自己所造的。

上帝的約櫃被擄走了，以利的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈被殺身亡。

他們把神像抬起來扛在肩上，找個地方把它安置好，它就在那裡呆立不動。人向它呼求，它不能回應，也不能救人脫離困境。

彼勒屈膝跪下，尼波彎腰降服。這些巴比倫的偶像成為野獸和牲畜背上的重負，使其疲憊不堪。它們一同屈膝降服，不但救不了被擄的巴比倫人，自己也被擄去。

約阿施對氣勢洶洶的人群說：「你們這樣做是要為巴力辯護嗎？是要救它嗎？誰為巴力辯護，今天早晨就處死誰。有人拆毀巴力的祭壇，如果它是神明，就讓它為自己辯護吧！」

把列國的神像丟在火中。因為那些神像只是人用木頭石頭製造的，根本不是神。我們的上帝耶和華啊，現在求你從亞述王手中拯救我們，讓天下萬國都知道唯有你是耶和華。」
