Then Micah said to him,“ Live with me. Be my father and priest. I’ll give you four ounces of silver a year. I’ll also give you clothes and food.”

Then Micah said to him,“ Live with me and be my father and priest, and I’ll give you ten shekels of silver a year, your clothes and your food.”

And Micah said to him,“ Stay with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver a year and a suit of clothes and your living.” And the Levite went in.

“ Stay here with me,” Micah said,“ and you can be a father and priest to me. I will give you ten pieces of silver a year, plus a change of clothes and your food.”

Micah replied,“ Stay with me and be my father and priest, and I will give you four ounces of silver a year, along with your clothing and provisions.” So the Levite went in

Micah then said to him,“ Stay with me and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten pieces of silver a year, a supply of clothing, and your sustenance.” So the Levite went in.

Micah said to him,“ Dwell with me, and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten shekels of silver per year, a suit of clothes, and your sustenance.” So the Levite went in.

And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.

Micah replied,“ Stay with me and be my father and priest, and I will give you four ounces of silver a year, along with your clothing and provisions.” So the Levite went in

And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten[ shekels] of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.

Micah said to him,“ Stay with me. Become my adviser and priest. I will give you ten pieces of silver per year, plus clothes and food.”

Micah said to him,“ Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver per year, a suit of clothing, and your food.” So the Levite went in.

They answered him,“ Be quiet! Don’t say a word. Come with us. Be our father and priest. You can serve a whole tribe and family group in Israel as our priest. Isn’t that better than serving just one man’s family?”The priest was very pleased. He took the linen apron and the family gods. He also took the statue of the god that was covered with silver. Then the priest left with the people.

Elisha had been suffering from a sickness. Later he would die from it. Jehoash, the king of Israel, went down to see him. Jehoash wept over him.“ My father!” he cried.“ You are like a father to me! You, Elisha, are the true chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

I was like a father to needy people. I stood up for strangers in court.

Be shepherds of God’s flock, the believers under your care. Watch over them, though not because you have to. Instead, do it because you want to. That’s what God wants you to do. Don’t do it because you want to get money in dishonest ways. Do it because you really want to serve.

Then the king said to Hazael,“ Take a gift with you. Go and see the man of God. Ask him for the Lord’ s advice. Ask him whether I will get well again.”Hazael went to see Elisha. Hazael took 40 camels with him as a gift. The camels were loaded with all the finest goods of Damascus. Hazael went into Elisha’s house and stood in front of him. Hazael said,“ Ben- Hadad has sent me. He is the king of Aram. He asks,‘ Will I get well again?’ ”

He asked,“ What will you give me if I hand Jesus over to you?” So they counted out 30 silver coins for him.

Everyone left in your family line will come and bow down to him. They will beg him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread. They will say,“ Please give me a place to serve among the priests. Then I can have food to eat.” ’ ”

The Lord will put your robe on Eliakim. He will tie your belt around him. He will hand your authority over to him. Eliakim will be like a father to the people of Jerusalem and Judah.

So the Levite agreed to live with him. The young man became just like one of Micah’s sons to him.

You have treated me as if I were not holy. You did it among my very own people. You did it for a few handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. You told lies to my people. They like to listen to lies. You killed those who should have lived. And you spared those who should have died.”

The king of Israel saw them. So he asked Elisha,“ Should I kill them? I need your advice. You are like a father to me. Should I kill them?”

“ So then, it wasn’t you who sent me here. It was God. He made me like a father to Pharaoh. He made me master of Pharaoh’s entire house. God made me ruler of the whole land of Egypt.

He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor. He said it because he was a thief. Judas was in charge of the money bag. He used to help himself to what was in it.

Love for money causes all kinds of evil. Some people want to get rich. They have wandered away from the faith. They have wounded themselves with many sorrows.
