“ Stay here with me,” Micah said,“ and you can be a father and priest to me. I will give you ten pieces of silver a year, plus a change of clothes and your food.”

Micah said to him,“ Dwell with me, and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten shekels of silver per year, a suit of clothes, and your sustenance.” So the Levite went in.

And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.

Micah said to him,“ Stay with me. Become my adviser and priest. I will give you ten pieces of silver per year, plus clothes and food.”

They told him,“ Be quiet. Keep your mouth shut. Come with us and be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be a priest for the house of one person or for you to be a priest for a tribe and family in Israel?”So the priest was pleased and took his ephod, household idols, and carved image, and went with the people.

When Elisha became sick with the illness that he died from, Jehoash king of Israel went down and wept over him and said,“ My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the money-bag and would steal part of what was put in it.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.
