『但如今呢、比我年少的人倒譏笑了我；他們的父親我曾瞧不起，不讓跟我羊羣的狗同列。唉，他們手的力量於我有甚麼益處？他們壯年的精力都衰盡了。由於缺乏和饑饉、他們都很憔悴，齦着乾旱之土、荒廢淒涼之母；他們採摘鹹草、和灌木葉子、或羅騰樹根、作為食物。他們從人羣中被趕出，人追喊他們、如追賊一樣；以致他們必須住在谿谷的小澗，土或石頭的窟窿中；在灌木之間叫喚，在刺草底下擠成一團。嘿，不虔之人的種，下賤人的族類，被折磨、被趕出境外。『如今呢、這些人竟以我為歌曲，以我為笑談。他們厭惡我，遠避着我；一見面、就向我吐唾沫，毫不檢束。

但是猶太人卻起了妒忌的心，招聚些市井惡人，搭夥成羣，轟亂那城，闖進耶孫的家，想法子要將保羅西拉帶交民眾。

於是大衛起身，他和跟從他的六百人都投奔迦特王瑪俄的兒子亞吉去了。
