爾中之戰鬥爭競、奚自哉、非自戰於爾百體中之慾乎、

戰鬥爭競、何自而來、非欲戰於中而生乎、

爾中戰鬥爭競、何自而來、非自戰於爾百體中之慾乎、

爾中一切鬥爭紛擾、果何由而起？非由爾之情慾交戰於內乎？

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?

Why do you fight and argue among yourselves? Isn’t it because of your sinful desires? They fight within you.

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?

What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from your passions that wage war within you?

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts?

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?

Whence come wars and whence come fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members?

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from the cravings that are at war within you?

From whence[ come] wars and fightings among you?[ come they] not hence,[ even] of your lusts that war in your members?

Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you?

Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. (niv)

but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. (niv)

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. (niv)

When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. (niv)

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (niv)

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come— sexual immorality, theft, murder,adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” (niv)

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. (niv)

As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do— living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. (niv)

But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. (niv)

but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.Then the Lord said to Cain,“ Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”Now Cain said to his brother Abel,“ Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.For everything in the world— the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life— comes not from the Father but from the world.The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. (niv)

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. (niv)

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. (niv)

For out of the heart come evil thoughts— murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. (niv)

These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.They said to you,“ In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” (niv)

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.Such“ wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. (niv)

For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. (niv)

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. (niv)

Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. (niv)

they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicionsand constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.But godliness with contentment is great gain.For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (niv)

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (niv)
