He said,“ What comes out of a person defiles him.For from within, out of the human heart, come evil ideas, sexual immorality, theft, murder,adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.

But now, put off all such things as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.Do not lie to one another since you have put off the old man with its practices

A gentle response turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath.

What defiles a person is not what goes into the mouth; it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles a person.”Then the disciples came to him and said,“ Do you know that when the Pharisees heard this saying they were offended?”And he replied,“ Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.Leave them! They are blind guides. If someone who is blind leads another who is blind, both will fall into a pit.”But Peter said to him,“ Explain this parable to us.”Jesus said,“ Even after all this, are you still so foolish?Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth enters the stomach and then passes out into the sewer?But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person.For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.”

Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.“ Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is known by its fruit.Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say anything good, since you are evil? For the mouth speaks from what fills the heart.The good person brings good things out of his good treasury, and the evil person brings evil things out of his evil treasury.I tell you that on the day of judgment, people will give an account for every worthless word they speak.

Yet these men, as a result of their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and insult the glorious ones.But even when Michael the archangel was arguing with the devil and debating with him concerning Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment, but said,“ May the Lord rebuke you!”But these men do not understand the things they slander, and they are being destroyed by the very things that, like irrational animals, they instinctively comprehend.

to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.They said to you,“ In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” (niv)

See, the Name of the Lord comes from afar, with burning anger and dense clouds of smoke; his lips are full of wrath, and his tongue is a consuming fire. (niv)

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lieand so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them— bringing swift destruction on themselves.Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. I hear many whispering,“ Terror on every side! Denounce him! Let’s denounce him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying,“ Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him.” (niv)

With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk.All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noosetill an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. (niv)

Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. (niv)

But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. (niv)

Then the men of Israel answered the men of Judah,“ We have ten shares in the king; so we have a greater claim on David than you have. Why then do you treat us with contempt? They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach— and that for the sake of dishonest gain. (niv)

Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down.As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife. (niv)

Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. (niv)

They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of vipers is on their lips. (niv)

But when the Pharisees heard this, they said,“ It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.” (niv)

For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. (niv)

But Doeg the Edomite, who was standing with Saul’s officials, said,“ I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelek son of Ahitub at Nob.Ahimelek inquired of the Lord for him; he also gave him provisions and the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”Then the king sent for the priest Ahimelek son of Ahitub and all the men of his family, who were the priests at Nob, and they all came to the king.Saul said,“ Listen now, son of Ahitub.”“ Yes, my lord,” he answered.Saul said to him,“ Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, giving him bread and a sword and inquiring of God for him, so that he has rebelled against me and lies in wait for me, as he does today?”Ahimelek answered the king,“ Who of all your servants is as loyal as David, the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard and highly respected in your household?Was that day the first time I inquired of God for him? Of course not! Let not the king accuse your servant or any of his father’s family, for your servant knows nothing at all about this whole affair.”But the king said,“ You will surely die, Ahimelek, you and your whole family.”Then the king ordered the guards at his side:“ Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, because they too have sided with David. They knew he was fleeing, yet they did not tell me.” But the king’s officials were unwilling to raise a hand to strike the priests of the Lord. (niv)

They will keep you from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words. (niv)

“ You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.“ For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so they brought him to Moses.( His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.) (niv)

If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying,“ Let us go and worship other gods”( gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, (niv)
