Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

祝頌和咒詛都從同一個口裏出來：我的弟兄們，這是不該這樣的。

祝與詛均出一口、我兄弟乎、此非所宜也、

祝與詛、均由口出、兄弟乎勿如是、

祝讚與咒詛、自一口出、兄弟乎、此非所宜也、

兄弟乎讚美與咒詛、同出一口、有是理乎？

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!

not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

But to the wicked God says:“ What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth,Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you?When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers.You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit.You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.

for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, and say,“ Is not the Lord among us? No harm can come upon us.”

And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him,“ What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.”

But she answered him,“ No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing should be done in Israel. Do not do this disgraceful thing!
