and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, stay warm, and be well fed,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it?

爾中或語之曰、安然而往、願爾溫飽、而不予以身之所需、則何益哉、

而爾曰、安然以往、願爾得溫飽、如不以彼所需賜之、何益之有、

爾中有人謂之曰、安然以往、願爾溫飽、不以其身所需予之、何益之有、

而爾謂之曰：『安心以去、吾信汝必得溫飽；』而不給以切身所需之物、則亦何所裨益。

If one of you says to them,“ Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

Suppose one of you says to them,“ Go. I hope everything turns out fine for you. Keep warm. Eat well.” And suppose you do nothing about what they really need. Then what good have you done?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?

and you say,“ Good bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”— but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

and one of you says to them,“ Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it?

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be[ ye] warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what[ doth it] profit?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them what the body needs, what good is it?

and one of you tells them,“ Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

When it is in your power, don’t withhold good from the one to whom it belongs.Don’t say to your neighbor,“ Go away! Come back later. I’ll give it tomorrow”— when it is there with you.

This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him— how does God’s love reside in him?Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.

For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink;I was a stranger and you didn’t take me in; I was naked and you didn’t clothe me, sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of me.’“ Then they too will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help you?’“ Then he will answer them,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good.

I am not saying this as a command. Rather, by means of the diligence of others, I am testing the genuineness of your love.

Jesus called his disciples and said,“ I have compassion on the crowd, because they’ve already stayed with me three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, otherwise they might collapse on the way.”

When evening came, the disciples approached him and said,“ This place is deserted, and it is already late. Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”“ They don’t need to go away,” Jesus told them.“ You give them something to eat.”

You gave no water to the thirsty and withheld food from the famished,while the land belonged to a powerful man and an influential man lived on it.You sent widows away empty-handed, and the strength of the fatherless was crushed.
