因为人若只作听道的人，不作行道的人，他就像一个人对着镜子看自己本来的面貌，

因為只聽道而不行道的，就像人對着鏡子觀看自己本來的面目，

蓋聞道而不行者、猶人觀本來面目於鏡、

聞而不行者、譬人以鏡鑒面、

蓋聞道而不行者、譬諸人以鏡觀己之本來面目、

若是之人、猶如以鑑自照、

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror

Suppose someone listens to the word but doesn’t do what it says. Then they are like a person who looks at their face in a mirror.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.

Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:

Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror.

可是，凡是聽了我這些話而不實行的人，就好比一個愚拙的人把自己的房子建在沙灘上。大雨降下，急流沖來，狂風颳起，撞擊那房子，房子就倒塌了，並且倒塌得非常厲害。」

我的弟兄們，如果有人說自己有信仰，但卻沒有行為，這有什麼好處呢？難道這種信仰能救他嗎？如果有弟兄或姐妹衣不蔽體，又缺乏日用的食物，而你們當中有人對他們說：「平平安安地去吧！願你們穿得暖、吃得飽！」，卻不給他們身體所需要的，這有什麼好處呢？信仰也是這樣：如果沒有行為，這信仰就是死的。不過有人會說：「你有信仰；我有行為。」請給我看看你沒有行為的信仰，我也本於自己的行為給你看看我的信仰。你相信神只有一位，你就做得很好！連鬼魔也相信，並且恐懼戰兢。唉，你這虛空的人哪！你想知道沒有行為的信仰是無用的嗎？我們的先祖亞伯拉罕把他的兒子以撒獻在祭壇上，難道不是本於行為被稱為義嗎？你看，信仰和他的行為相輔相成，而且信仰是本於行為得以完全的。這就應驗了經上所說的：「亞伯拉罕信神，這就被算為他的義。」他又被稱為「神的朋友」。可見人被稱為義是本於行為，不僅是本於信仰。同樣，妓女瑞荷接待了那些使者，又從另一條路把他們送走，難道不也是本於行為被稱為義嗎？要知道，就像身體沒有靈魂是死的，照樣，信仰沒有行為也是死的。

我要指示你們，凡是到我這裡來聽了我的話而實行的人是什麼樣的人：

經文士們和法利賽人就密切注意耶穌會不會在安息日使人痊癒，為要找把柄控告他。
