Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses and his people— where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them,

Then his people remembered what he did long ago. They recalled the days of Moses and his people. They asked,“ Where is the God who brought Israel through the Red Sea? Moses led them as the shepherd of his flock. Where is the God who put his Holy Spirit among them?

Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put in the midst of them his Holy Spirit,

Then they remembered those days of old when Moses led his people out of Egypt. They cried out,“ Where is the one who brought Israel through the sea, with Moses as their shepherd? Where is the one who sent his Holy Spirit to be among his people?

Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them,

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying:“ Where is He who brought them up out of the sea With the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit in the midst of them?

Then He remembered the days of the past, the days of Moses and his people. Where is He who brought them out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit among the flock?

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses,[ and] his people,[ saying], Where[ is] he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where[ is] he that put his holy Spirit within him?

His people remembered the ancient times. Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherd of his flock? Where is the one who placed his holy Spirit among them,

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying,“ Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among them?”

Then I will come down and speak with you there. I will take some of the Spirit who is on you and put the Spirit on them. They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by yourself.

You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Then the LORD descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit who was on Moses and placed the Spirit on the seventy elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they never did it again.

This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit is present among you; don’t be afraid.’”

But Moses asked him,“ Are you jealous on my account? If only all the LORD’s people were prophets and the LORD would place his Spirit on them!”

That day the LORD saved Israel from the power of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with the waters like a wall to them on their right and their left.

Remember, LORD, your compassion and your faithful love, for they have existed from antiquity.

Finally Daniel, named Belteshazzar after the name of my god— and a spirit of the holy gods is in him— came before me. I told him the dream:

He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercyto Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he spoke to our ancestors.

So he answered me,“ This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:‘ Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD of Armies.

But Moses replied to the LORD,“ The Egyptians will hear about it, for by your strength you brought up this people from them.They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, LORD, are among these people, how you, LORD, are seen face to face, how your cloud stands over them, and how you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.If you kill this people with a single blow, the nations that have heard of your fame will declare,‘ Since the LORD wasn’t able to bring this people into the land he swore to give them, he has slaughtered them in the wilderness.’“ So now, may my Lord’s power be magnified just as you have spoken:The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in faithful love, forgiving iniquity and rebellion. But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generation.Please pardon the iniquity of this people, in keeping with the greatness of your faithful love, just as you have forgiven them from Egypt until now.”The LORD responded,“ I have pardoned them as you requested.Yet as I live and as the whole earth is filled with the LORD’s glory,none of the men who have seen my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tested me these ten times and did not obey me,will ever see the land I swore to give their ancestors. None of those who have despised me will see it.But since my servant Caleb has a different spirit and has remained loyal to me, I will bring him into the land where he has gone, and his descendants will inherit it.Since the Amalekites and Canaanites are living in the lowlands, turn back tomorrow and head for the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea.”

Remember how short my life is. Have you created everyone for nothing?What courageous person can live and never see death? Who can save himself from the power of Sheol? SelahLord, where are the former acts of your faithful love that you swore to David in your faithfulness?Remember, Lord, the ridicule against your servants— in my heart I carry abuse from all the peoples—

But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God:“ LORD, why does your anger burn against your people you brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a strong hand?Why should the Egyptians say,‘ He brought them out with an evil intent to kill them in the mountains and eliminate them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger and relent concerning this disaster planned for your people.

You sent your good Spirit to instruct them. You did not withhold your manna from their mouths, and you gave them water for their thirst.

I consider days of old, years long past.At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.“ Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor?Has his faithful love ceased forever? Is his promise at an end for all generations?Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?” SelahSo I say,“ I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”I will remember the LORD’s works; yes, I will remember your ancient wonders.

When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, in the future you will return to the LORD your God and obey him.He will not leave you, destroy you, or forget the covenant with your ancestors that he swore to them by oath, because the LORD your God is a compassionate God.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all you have done; I reflect on the work of your hands.

Look down from heaven and see from your lofty home— holy and beautiful. Where is your zeal and your might? Your yearning and your compassion are withheld from me.

Wake up, wake up! Arm of the LORD, clothe yourself with strength. Wake up as in days past, as in generations long ago. Wasn’t it you who hacked Rahab to pieces, who pierced the sea monster?Wasn’t it you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the sea-bed into a road for the redeemed to pass over?

They stopped asking,“ Where is the LORD who brought us from the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and ravines, through a land of drought and darkness, a land no one traveled through and where no one lived?”

“ But when they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their ancestors— their unfaithfulness that they practiced against me, and how they acted with hostility toward me,and I acted with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies— and when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they make amends for their iniquity,then I will remember my covenant with Jacob. I will also remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.For the land abandoned by them will make up for its Sabbaths by lying desolate without the people, while they make amends for their iniquity, because they rejected my ordinances and abhorred my statutes.Yet in spite of this, while they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject or abhor them so as to destroy them and break my covenant with them, since I am the LORD their God.For their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God; I am the LORD.”
