“ Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.

Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. (niv)

Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.Daughter Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under siege.Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. (niv)

How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave.Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent he had set up among humans.He sent the ark of his might into captivity, his splendor into the hands of the enemy. (niv)
