He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.

He sees that there is no one who helps his people. He is shocked that no one stands up for them. So he will use his own powerful arm to save them. He has the strength to do it because he is holy.

Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just?”The LORD said,“ If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”Then Abraham answered,“ Since I have ventured to speak to my lord— even though I am dust and ashes—suppose the fifty righteous lack five. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”Then he spoke to him again,“ Suppose forty are found there?” He answered,“ I will not do it on account of forty.”Then he said,“ Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak further. Suppose thirty are found there?” He answered,“ I will not do it if I find thirty there.”Then he said,“ Since I have ventured to speak to my lord, suppose twenty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it on account of twenty.”Then he said,“ Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak one more time. Suppose ten are found there?” He answered,“ I will not destroy it on account of ten.”

I trampled the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with me. I trampled them in my anger and ground them underfoot in my fury; their blood spattered my garments, and all my clothes were stained.For I planned the day of vengeance, and the year of my redemption came.I looked, but there was no one to help, and I was amazed that no one assisted; so my arm accomplished victory for me, and my wrath assisted me.

The LORD has displayed his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

So he said he would have destroyed them— if Moses his chosen one had not stood before him in the breach to turn his wrath away from destroying them.

When I look, there is no one; there is no counselor among them; when I ask them, they have nothing to say.

Roam through the streets of Jerusalem. Investigate; search in her squares. If you find one person, any who acts justly, who pursues faithfulness, then I will forgive her.

And he was amazed at their unbelief. He was going around the villages teaching.

Why was no one there when I came? Why was there no one to answer when I called? Is my arm too weak to redeem? Or do I have no power to rescue? Look, I dry up the sea by my rebuke; I turn the rivers into a wilderness; their fish rot because of lack of water and die of thirst.

No one calls on your name, striving to take hold of you. For you have hidden your face from us and made us melt because of our iniquity.
