So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.

So people stop others from doing what is fair. They keep them from doing what is right. No one tells the truth in court anymore. No one is honest there.

Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.

Our courts oppose the righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty has been outlawed.

沒有人按公義求告，沒有人憑誠實爭辯；他們都倚靠虛無，說虛謊的話；所懷的是毒害，所生的是罪孽。

因此律法不能生效（“律法不能生效”原文作“律法鬆懈”），公理無法彰顯。因為惡人把義人包圍，所以公理顛倒。

你們欺壓窮人，強徵他們的五穀；因此，你們用琢磨過的石頭建造房屋，卻不能住在其中；你們栽種美好的葡萄園，卻不能喝園中的酒。

先知說假預言，祭司憑己意把持權柄。我的子民竟喜愛這樣，到了結局你們怎麼辦呢？”

那些制定奸惡律例的，和那些記錄詭詐判語的，有禍了！他們想藉此屈枉窮乏人的公義，剝奪我子民中困苦人的權利，使寡婦作了他們的掠物，使孤兒作了他們的擄物。

籠中怎樣滿了雀鳥，他們的屋裡也滿了詭詐；他們就因此財雄勢大。他們肥胖光潤，作盡各種壞事；他們不為人辯護，不替孤兒辨屈，使他們獲益，也不為窮人伸冤。

“你們不按公義審判，偏袒惡人，要到幾時呢？（細拉）你們要為貧寒的人和孤兒伸冤，為困苦和窮乏的人伸張正義。要搭救貧寒和窮困的人，救他們脫離惡人的手。”他們沒有知識，也不明白，在黑暗中走來走去；大地的一切根基都搖動了。

他們因受了賄賂，就稱惡人為義；卻把義人的權益奪去。

我在日光之下又看見：審判的地方有奸惡，維護公義的地方也有奸惡。

雅各家的首領，你們要聽這個，以色列家的官長，你們也要聽；你們厭惡公平，屈枉正直，用人血建錫安，以罪孽造耶路撒冷。城中的首領為賄賂而審判，祭司為薪俸而教導，先知為銀子說默示，他們竟倚靠耶和華，說：“耶和華不是在我們中間嗎？災禍必不會臨到我們身上。”

那忠貞的城，怎麼會變成妓女！她從前充滿公平，有公義居在其中，現在卻有兇手居住。

這叛逆、污穢、欺壓人的城有禍了！她不聽話，也不受管教；她不倚靠耶和華，也不親近她的神。城中的領袖都是咆哮的獅子，城中的審判官是夜間的豺狼，甚麼都不留到早晨。

他們雙手善於作惡，官長和審判官都要求報酬；達官貴人說出心裡的慾望；他們歪曲了一切。他們中最好的，也不過像荊棘，最正直的，也不過是有刺的籬笆。你的守望者所預言的日子，和你被鑒察的時候，已經來到；現在他們必要慌亂不安。不可信靠鄰舍，也不可信任朋友，要守住你的嘴唇，不可向躺在你懷中的妻子透露。

他們使公正變為苦堇，把公義棄於地上。
