爾行遠道、徒勞無益、或作爾之多計徒勞無益猶不自謂失望、爾自以為手尚有力、故不自知己之柔弱、

You wearied yourself by such going about, but you would not say,‘ It is hopeless.’ You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.

You wore yourself out with all your efforts. But you would not say,‘ It’s hopeless.’ You received new strength. So you did not give up.

You were wearied with the length of your way, but you did not say,“ It is hopeless”; you found new life for your strength, and so you were not faint.

You grew weary in your search, but you never gave up. Desire gave you renewed strength, and you did not grow weary.

You became weary on your many journeys, but you did not say,“ It’s hopeless!” You found a renewal of your strength; therefore you did not grow weak.

You were tired out by the length of your road, Yet you did not say,‘ It is hopeless!’ You found renewed strength, Therefore you did not faint.

You were wearied with the length of your ways; yet you didn’t say,‘ It is in vain.’ You found a reviving of your strength; therefore you weren’t faint.

你不要弄到赤足而行，喉嚨乾渴。你卻說：『沒有用的，我喜愛陌生人，我必隨從他們。』」

「他們卻說：『沒有用的，我們要照自己的計謀去行，各人要隨自己頑梗的惡心行事。』」

他們互相欺騙，不說真話，訓練自己的舌頭說謊，竭盡所能地作惡。

耶和華啊，你的眼目不是在尋找誠實嗎？你擊打他們，他們卻不傷慟；你摧毀他們，他們仍不領受管教。他們使臉剛硬過於磐石，不肯回頭。

你籌劃太多，以致疲倦。讓那些觀天象，看星宿，在初一說預言的都起來，救你脫離所要臨到你的事！

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

你為何東奔西跑改變你的道路呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像從前因亞述蒙羞一樣。

因此甘霖停止，春雨不降。你還是一副娼妓之臉，不顧羞恥。

我們定要照我們口中所說的一切話去做，向天后燒香，獻澆酒祭，按着我們與我們祖先、君王、官長在猶大城鎮和耶路撒冷街市上素常所做的一樣；因為那時我們得以吃飽、享福樂，並未遇見災禍。自從我們停止向天后燒香，獻澆酒祭，我們倒缺乏這一切，又因刀劍饑荒滅絕。」

以前沒有律法的時候，我是活的；但是誡命來到，罪活起來，

這亞哈斯王在急難的時候，越發得罪耶和華。他向那攻擊他的大馬士革的神明獻祭，說：「因為亞蘭王的神明幫助他們，我也要向這些神明獻祭，好讓它們幫助我。」但那些神明卻使他和全以色列敗亡。

然而這一切勞碌無效，它厚厚的銹，即使用火也除不掉。
