For an overseer, as God’s administrator, must be blameless, not arrogant, not hot-tempered, not addicted to wine, not a bully, not greedy for money,

This is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray, who proclaim peace when they have food to sink their teeth into but declare war against the one who puts nothing in their mouths.Therefore, it will be night for you— without visions; it will grow dark for you— without divination. The sun will set on these prophets, and the daylight will turn black over them.

Why don’t you understand what I say? Because you cannot listen to My word.

If you don’t, I’ll take it by force!”So the servants’ sin was very severe in the presence of the Lord, because they treated the Lord’s offering with contempt.

not addicted to wine, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy—

Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money,

These people are discontented grumblers, walking according to their desires; their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering people for their own advantage.

In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame. They are focused on earthly things,

Why, then, do all of you despise My sacrifices and offerings that I require at the place of worship? You have honored your sons more than Me, by making yourselves fat with the best part of all of the offerings of My people Israel.’

I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

Watch out for“ dogs,” watch out for evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh.
