He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

His servant grew up like a tender young plant. He grew like a root coming up out of dry ground. He didn’t have any beauty or majesty that made us notice him. There wasn’t anything special about the way he looked that drew us to him.

And Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them,“ Behold the man!”

And they reviled him, saying,“ You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.”

or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.

And say to him,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts,“ Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord.

They cried out again,“ Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.

And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
