Then you will say in your heart,‘ Who bore me these? I was bereaved and barren; I was exiled and rejected. Who brought these up? I was left all alone, but these— where have they come from?’”

那时你心里必说：我既丧子独居，是被掳的，漂流在外。谁给我生这些？谁将这些养大呢？撇下我一人独居的时候，这些在哪里呢？’”

那时你心里必说：“我既丧子不育，被掳，飘流在外，谁给我生了这些？谁将他们养大呢？看哪，我被撇下独自一人时，他们都在哪里呢？”

那时你心里必说：“我既丧子不育，被掳，飘流在外，谁给我生了这些？谁将他们养大呢？看哪，我被撇下独自一人时，他们都在哪里呢？”

你会在心里问，‘我丧失了儿女、不再生育、流亡在外、漂流不定，谁给我生了这些儿女？谁把他们养大？我孤身一人，他们是从哪里来的？’”

那时你心里必说：‘我既丧子，又不能生育；我是被掳的，又是被放逐在外的，谁给我生了这些孩子呢？谁把这些孩子养大呢？看哪！我独自一人被撇下，这些孩子是从哪里来的呢？’”

那时你心里必说：‘我既丧子，又不能生育，我被掳、被放逐，究竟是谁给我生了这些孩子呢？又是谁把这些孩子养大的呢？看哪！我被留下孤身一人，这些孩子究竟是从哪里来的呢？’”

那時你心裏必說：我既喪子獨居，是被擄的，漂流在外。誰給我生這些？誰將這些養大呢？撇下我一人獨居的時候，這些在哪裏呢？

那時你心裏必說：「我既喪子不育，被擄，飄流在外，誰給我生了這些？誰將他們養大呢？看哪，我被撇下獨自一人時，他們都在哪裏呢？」

那時你心裏必說：「我既喪子不育，被擄，飄流在外，誰給我生了這些？誰將他們養大呢？看哪，我被撇下獨自一人時，他們都在哪裏呢？」

你會在心裡問，『我喪失了兒女、不再生育、流亡在外、漂流不定，誰給我生了這些兒女？誰把他們養大？我孤身一人，他們是從哪裡來的？』」

那時你心裡必說：‘我既喪子，又不能生育；我是被擄的，又是被放逐在外的，誰給我生了這些孩子呢？誰把這些孩子養大呢？看哪！我獨自一人被撇下，這些孩子是從哪裡來的呢？’”

那時你心裏必說：「我既喪子，又不能孕育，又是被擄、被放逐於外的，誰給我生了這些孩子呢？誰將這些孩子養大呢？看哪，我被剩下、獨自一人：這些孩子從哪兒來呢？」』

那時你心裡必說：『我既喪子，又不能生育，我被擄、被放逐，究竟是誰給我生了這些孩子呢？又是誰把這些孩子養大的呢？看哪！我被留下孤身一人，這些孩子究竟是從哪裡來的呢？』」

爾將自謂、我既喪子、孑然一身、見逐流離、若輩誰所誕育耶、且我獨居、若輩何從而有耶、○

爾將謂焉得有是子耶、我子流離、自為鰥獨、見擄驅逐、伶仃無依、今此子果誰育之哉。

其時爾心自言曰、我喪子獨居、遭擄掠、被驅逐、此眾誰為我生之育之、我孤獨無依、此眾自何而有、

Then you will say to yourself,‘ Whose children are these? I lost my children. And I couldn’t have any more. My children were taken far away from me. And no one wanted them. Who brought these children up? I was left all alone. So where have these children come from?’ ”

Then you will say in your heart:‘ Who has borne me these? I was bereaved and barren, exiled and put away, but who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; from where have these come?’”

Then you will think to yourself,‘ Who has given me all these descendants? For most of my children were killed, and the rest were carried away into exile. I was left here all alone. Where did all these people come from? Who bore these children? Who raised them for me?’”

Then you will say within yourself,‘ Who fathered these for me? I was deprived of my children and unable to conceive, exiled and wandering— but who brought them up? See, I was left by myself— but these, where did they come from?’”

Then you will say in your heart,‘ Who has fathered these for me, Since I have been bereaved of my children And cannot conceive, and I am an exile, and a wanderer? And who has raised these? Behold, I was left alone; Where are these from?’ ”

Then you will say in your heart,‘ Who has begotten these for me, Since I have lost my children and am desolate, A captive, and wandering to and fro? And who has brought these up? There I was, left alone; But these, where were they?’”

Then you will say in your heart,‘ Who has conceived these for me, since I have been bereaved of my children and am alone, an exile, and wandering back and forth? Who has brought these up? Behold, I was left alone. Where were these?’”

This is what the Lord says:“ A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”This is what the Lord says:“ Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the Lord.“ They will return from the land of the enemy.So there is hope for your descendants,” declares the Lord.“ Your children will return to their own land.

But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.For it is written:“ Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.”Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now.

How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave.Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile. She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place. All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.

The gates of Zion will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.

Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding; those of high rank will die of hunger and the common people will be parched with thirst.

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Your sacred cities have become a wasteland; even Zion is a wasteland, Jerusalem a desolation.

For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.“ Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit— a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God.“ For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.

and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:“ The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs,for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience,so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you.

They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministryin the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,

“ Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.

After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

Awake, awake! Rise up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, you who have drained to its dregs the goblet that makes people stagger.Among all the children she bore there was none to guide her; among all the children she reared there was none to take her by the hand.These double calamities have come upon you— who can comfort you?— ruin and destruction, famine and sword— who can console you?Your children have fainted; they lie at every street corner, like antelope caught in a net. They are filled with the wrath of the Lord, with the rebuke of your God.

No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married.

Daughter Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under siege.

“ Immediately after the distress of those days“‘ the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’“ Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive.
