Even from the beginning I have declared it to you; Before it came to pass I proclaimed it to you, Lest you should say,‘ My idol has done them, And my carved image and my molded image Have commanded them.’

故自疇昔、事尚未至、我先宣告、昭示於爾、免爾曰、此乃我之偶像所行、我之雕像鑄像所命、

越在疇昔、事未至、我先言之、俾爾知悉、恐爾以為所鑄之偶像作此。

故在昔時、事未至之先、我預告爾、俾爾聞之、恐爾曰、此我偶像所作、我雕刻鑄造之偶像所命、

Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say,‘ My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.’

So I told you those things long ago. Before they happened I announced them to you. I did it so you would not be able to say,‘ My statues of gods did them. My wooden and metal gods made them happen.’

I declared them to you from of old, before they came to pass I announced them to you, lest you should say,‘ My idol did them, my carved image and my metal image commanded them.’

That is why I told you what would happen; I told you beforehand what I was going to do. Then you could never say,‘ My idols did it. My wooden image and metal god commanded it to happen!’

therefore I declared to you long ago. I announced it to you before it occurred, so you could not claim,‘ My idol caused them; my carved image and cast idol control them.’

Therefore I declared them to you long ago, Before they took place I proclaimed them to you, So that you would not say,‘ My idol has done them, And my carved image and my cast metal image have commanded them.’

therefore I have declared it to thee from of old; before it came to pass I showed it thee; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

therefore I declared to you long ago. I announced it to you before it occurred, so you could not claim,‘ My idol caused them; my carved image and cast idol control them.’

I have even from the beginning declared[ it] to thee; before it came to pass I shewed[ it] thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

I announced them to you beforehand; before they happened, I predicted them for you, so you could never say,‘ My image did these things, my idol, my cast image, decreed them.’

therefore I have declared it to you from of old; before it came to pass I showed it to you; lest you should say,‘ My idol has done them. My engraved image and my molten image has commanded them.’

“ I have declared the former things from the beginning; They went forth from My mouth, and I caused them to hear it. Suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.

As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began,

Then all the men who knew that their wives had burned incense to other gods, with all the women who stood by, a great multitude, and all the people who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying:“ As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not listen to you!But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and saw no trouble.But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine.”

“ Known to God from eternity are all His works.

And who can proclaim as I do? Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me, Since I appointed the ancient people. And the things that are coming and shall come, Let them show these to them.

Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying,‘ My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’

I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
