Your family would be like the sand. Your children after you would be as many as the grains of sand by the sea. It would be impossible to count them. I would always accept the members of your family line. They would never disappear or be destroyed.”

我必定大大祝福你，使你的后裔大大增多，如同天上的星辰、海边的沙粒；你的后裔必占有仇敌的城门。

我也要使你的后裔如同地上的尘沙那样多——如果人能数算地上的尘沙，才能数算你的后裔。

此外我也得了玛伦的妻子摩押女子路得作我的妻子，好使那死者在继业上立名，以免那死者的名从他的兄弟中、从本地的城门口断绝。今天你们都是见证人。”

耶和华宣告：“我所造的新天新地怎样在我面前长存，你们的后裔和你们的名字也怎样长存。”

以赛亚论到以色列人，呼喊说：“以色列子民的人数虽然多如海沙，将要得救的却是剩余的少数。

为我名的缘故，我忍住怒气；为了我当受的赞美，我向你忍怒，不把你剪除。

“我必起来攻击他们！”万军之耶和华如此宣告。“我必把巴比伦的名号、余剩者、子孙后代都剪除！”耶和华如此宣告。

你斥责了列国，消灭了恶人，抹掉了他们的名号，直到永永远远。

所以耶和华必在一日之内，从以色列中剪除头和尾，剪除棕枝和芦苇——

我必在我的殿中墙内，赐给他们纪念柱和名号，比有儿女更好；我必赐给他们永不剪除的名号。
